“Excellent stay”
Reviewed September 19, 2010

This hotel was excellent. The hotel is gated and has security posted at the gate. The grounds were absolutely beautiful. We stayed one night after our safari and it was like an oasis. We decided to get room service and watch tv in our room for the first time in over a week. The lasagna was awesome along with tomato soup. The room was large with a bed, huge bathroom, and a sitting area. There are chairs outside on a small patio to sit and look at the grounds. My husband sat out there drinking a beer and catching up on his sports from the USA today that is sold in the gift shop. It was a wonderful place to relax and unwind. If we go to Nariobi again we will stay at the Fairview.

We stayed at the Fairview for 3 nights based on the reviews on TripAdvisor. It was a lovely place - great rooms, lovely staff, gorgeous grounds. The breakfast was fantastic (try the danishes, probably the best I've ever had anywhere in my life!). The hotel is very safe (road block makes you feel very safe indeed).

The ONLY thing I will say that isn't positive is that we did order a pizza via room service on our last night. We expected that the large size would be the same as the large size at the pool restaurant. It was disappointingly small and a lot more expensive than the ones downstairs.

Fairview Hotel is a wonderful family-run hotel, built in the 1930s. The standard rooms are in the older part of the hotel, and are simple and comfortable, the superior rooms have been recently revamped, and are large, with huge beds, good bathrooms and their own little garden with table and chairs. And all at a very reasonable price. There is a lovely pool, three or four very good restaurants, serving excellent food ranging from pool side snacks to international haute cuisine. The breakfast is amazing, with a vast hot and cold buffet of every sort of food you could wish for, from traditional eggs and bacon, waffles and maple syrup, european ham and cheese and even sushi!. The hotel is surrounded by peaceful gardens and water features, and is an oasis away from the bustle of downtown Nairobi. Best of all are the staff; warm, welcoming, friendly and smiling all the time, and offering impeccable service.

Nice hotel with professional staff, including a very competent manager who truly cares about clients' comfort and aims at continuous improvement. Great gardens, very pleasant environment in hectic Nairobi.

The Fairview is a well run family hotel with excellent staff and good facilities, where I have stayed several times. It's a small oasis in the hustle and bustle of Nairobi. I particularly like their pricing structure as it's fair and transparent, with no "special deals" if you whisper quietly in the manager's ear. In other words your room rate is not subsidising other people, which is the case at many other hotels that offer exorbitant rack rates but then much lower prices to airline crew or conference groups. The breakfast bar is famous in Kenya and the pool is a lovely place to sit and work, with power points and wireless internet. I also found the business centre very quick and efficient. No hesitation at all about recommending the Fairview. The usual problem is getting a vacancy!

We spent in the Fairview 3 days - 2 days before safari and 1 day after. The hotel is situated far from big streets. Here is no noise of cars - it was very important for me, because I was with little child. Babycots in the room and child chaires in the restaurant are available. The swimming pool has children's section. Very good cuisine. Wonderful gardens. Very helpful and friendly staff. Thank you for our excellent rest!

We stayed here 2 nights, one before our Safari and one after and before beach stay. We stayed in the First Class Double, because you could you the first class lounge, which included free use of computers and free snacks and drinks. Their food was good and the only place on our trip, you could find a good glass of iced tea. They held some luggage we had for our beach stay until we got back, which was real handy for us because we were flying on bush planes and could not take that much with us. The room was very nice and everything look pretty around the grounds. One tip is pay the hotel directly for the taxi and just give the driver a tip, because otherwise our first experience, the desk told us one price and he inflated it when we got there, so the next time we just paid the hotel directly, it was cheaper that way.
