We stayed at Southern Sun Mayfair before and after our safari and loved it! The staff were super friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffets and dinner were fantastic, our children (8&10) particularly enjoyed it and I thought they offered a great variety of fresh food. Gardens were lovely and there was a relaxed feel about the hotel and grounds. Loved the little tabby cat who was quite at home in the reception area! The Golden Spur restaurant was also good and has a climbing wall for the kids. Only thing I would suggest is that if you are a light sleeper to request a room away from the road. We were just above reception and sometimes noise from traffic was quite loud. We would definitely stay again!

Hotel staff was friendly. Hotel was fully managed. Everything was awesome. Wednesday was always awesome there. Nice concept of social gathering. I had a lovely breakfast every morning.
The hotel is an old colonial collection of structures in a well maintained compound which is charming. Overall awesome experience.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. Hotel was clean and nicely decorated, rooms of a good size and clean . Rooms were quiet and we all slept well in comfortable beds. We're disappointed the lovely poolside was shut in the evening for a wedding but we had a lovely break fast there in the morning.
I thought the service was of a high standard and I would recommend it.

The architecture is well preserved Colonial type. Very well preserved with a very well kept garden and a koi carp pond. The food is excellent with a choice of restaurants by the poolor the steak house inside.

Very quiet and serene compound, decent rooms with comfortable if not a bit dated amenities. The hotel is an old colonial collection of structures in a well maintained compound which is charming, but the rooms deserve a bit of a face-lift. Breakfast was among the best anywhere, with a wide array of super delicious treats. Staff very polite and helpful. Within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Need a taxi to go downtown though.

Internet was not much to sing about, slow and unreliable. TV was small with not many channels for the hotel class.

Verdict: great for a good night sleep & vacation, not so if you need to do a bit of work in the room.

Arrived late in the evening. A ways from the airport. Time for fine dinner in the Golden Spur. Room was fine and breakfast was excellent. Nice hotel for a layover. Grounds were quite lovely. Would stay there again.
