“Noisy Location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2013

Located in a gated neighborhood and a gated compound, saftey is not a concern. I was greeted by a lady who was very nice. My room was large, 2 double beds, with a private bath that was actually an enclosed porch but the room and bath were clean. I arrived about 6 PM and it was like an oven in the room and there was no fan nor did the staff have a portable fan. I had a 3 am flight out of Nairobi and had to be up at 12:30 am so I needed to get some sleep but that was almost impossible with the noisy street out the window and the highway noise just a block away. My stay was part of a package so I don't know what it cost but I would try to find a more quiet place with at least a fan the next time I need a temporary place in Nairobi.

The Nairobi stopover hotel is a place close to the international airport where your tip can start or end. The booking went well, email response took place within a day. They already booked my bustrip to Moshi in Tanzania!
When I arrived, the lady of the house was very friendly. The room I got in the back was clean, with a mosquito net. The bathroom was very simple.
Had a great night of sleep. But the best was yet to come, the breakfast! Enough to say no to your lunch.
When I left and took the bus to Moshi, a realy nice guy from the hostel brought me to the right busstop (James, thanks!).

For our last night in Kenya and an early flight the next morning back to Amsterdam we needed a save place to stay without any ambition to visit Nairobi this time.

This hostel / guesthouse is a fit for purpose choice to do this.

Friendly and helpful staff (escort to Capital Mall, 10 min walk max., airport pick-up and drop-off) and a save feeling with the apparently locked off street, creating a compound :-)

Definitely a hostel to save as option for Nairobi!

As described previously, the rooms here are nothing spectacular but have good mosquito nets and are clean. However it is the safety and helpfulness of the staff which mean it gets a 5 star rating.

I would definitely stay here again and it is particularly good if you are doing multiple trips and using Nairobi as your base. The stop over house is located in a guarded compound that also contains a school and a hospital. I don't believe this security is because the area around is necessarily more dangerous than anywhere else in Nairobi. Just with Nairobi's reputation in general this makes the stop over house a reassuringly safe place to stay. The owner Zipporah is very helpful in arranging whatever transport or trip you want to plan, and she runs the guest house with a small but very reiliable and friendly staff. For example it never seemed any bother to them to accompany us if we needed to go to the shop or cash machine after dark (5 mins away at the gas station).

I used this place for like 6 hours and I must say the Stop Over House is a much better place for anyone transiting through Nairobi than any other joint in the hood. The staffs are amazing and very friendly. Makes you feel very much welcomed. And the environment is much better hygienically than one other place I visited.. Overall it's a much better for anyone who use Nairobi airport as a transit point.

We were on a budget, we stayed 1 night in Dorms, it is a room of 6. The beds were very comfy with good mosquito nets. Great location, 10min drive to the airport and a short bus drive to Nairobi Center, very close shopping mall and restaurants (inc a very good African one - ask staff). Hot showers.
The staff were friendly and easy to approach, very willing to help with directions and advice. Good quality breakfast was included in the price.

We stayed here for one night at first, having flown into Nairobi, before taking the bus to Moshi the next day to climb Kilimanjaro. The staff were very kind and helpful. Zipporah was in very regular contact and we were collected from the airport promptly and had help boarding the bus to Moshi from just outside the hotel.

The hotel is situated in a very safe compound with guards at the exterior and a locked gate and guard at the front of the hotel. We were escorted by James and Grace if ever we needed to pop out in the evening and they helped us to use the local transport and to visit the Masai market. The staff were so good that we decided to spend another night here before our safari and booked our safari through them. We had very spacious double rooms on both occasions and had a small covered shower and toilet attached to our room. The rooms had excellent mosquito nets and some were being redecorated when we were there. We spent another night here following our safari, before catching the night train to Mombasa (booked again by the stopover house). We spent our final night here having returned to Nairobi, before flying out of Nairobi.

This is a very reasonably priced guest house, which will enable you to access Nairobi itself and the rest of Kenya. The staff are exceptionally helpful and were happy to do our washing for us after we had climbed Kilimanjaro, allowed us to store our belongings while we were away on safari and were happy to cook breakfast at any time you requested it before departing.

There is not much to do in the immediate area and few places to eat but we walked over to the South C garage where there is a fast food place and the garage sells sandwiches and groceries. There is a large supermarket and a couple of coffee shops where the Masai market is, around 5 minutes walk away, selling everything you could want.

I would recommend this B & B if you are using the airport or the train station in Nairobi as a reasonably priced place which will help you to plan the rest of your trip. They will endeavour to keep you safe and to make your trip as pleasant as they can.

We are a mid range Bed and breakfast guest house located very near the Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta airport and Wilson airport. We are less than 10minutes from any of the airport. Our guest house guarantees personal attention for it is small with a capacity of 20 guests per night. Our 5 bedrooms are either in single, double, triple and we have a family room with 1 big bed and 2 small beds. Some rooms are with private bathrooms and others in shared bathrooms. Cleanliness, security, serenity and affordability have made our guests come back again and again. With the ideal location, visitors arriving or departing late in the night or early morning have always found our place very ideal. It is also a great location for guests on transit to Tanzania since the shuttle buses to Tanzania pick guests from our house on the way without having to go to the city center to board. We have business connections with shuttle buses like Davanu shuttle, Marangu shuttles Jamii shuttle, Riverside shuttle, Impala shuttle, Destination and rainbow among others. For those on long hours of waiting to connect a flight, we offer great deals on day room either as a package with pick up and drop off the airport and lunch or just on accommodation only. We are a great place to meet other young travelers and the "young at heart", backpackers and mid range travelers. ... more   less
