“Noisy and no respect for the customers”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2014 via mobile

Different and loud music at the pool, restaurant and gym in the same time.
Kids from the neighoorhood cole over the weekend to play and scream and there is no available sunbed for the customers.
Room cleanning is usually really poorly done.

I stay regularly at Ole Dume for work. It is convenient for the office in Ngong Road and so that cuts down the hours otherwise spent in Nairobi traffic. It is a short walk from Valley Arcade shops (quite small) and a 20 minute walk from other shopping centres such as Junction, Yaya, the Greenhouse and Prestige.

The apartments are spacious and reasonably well equipped, e.g. hot water, cooker and fridge. They are cleaned daily including change of towels and even washing up. The facilities are good in the hotel with a pool, a gym and male and female spas. There is also a small shop. The restaurant is only open to 9pm but has a menu which is reasonable but not particularly extensive.

The wifi could do with strengthening as it fades off regularly and it is difficult (not impossible) to make Skype calls, particularly from the higher floors. All apartments apart from the top floor have balconies.

Room Tip: Top floors don't have balconies. Otherwise all rooms are very similar.

I have stayed there for the past month and expect to be there for two more. Contrary to an earlier review, the 'hotel' is almost on Ole Dume Road (i.e. at the end of a 40 meter driveway). A few minutes off the Ngong Road, which is very slow into the city centre due to heavy traffic, and current widespread roadworks. Its much better if you are going out of town - on the road to the Ngong Hills and Karen (of 'Out of Africa' fame).

Staff are helpful and friendly-it more than meets my needs as a business traveller wanting to stay put for more than a few nights. I would stress that both one and two bed apartments are in reality suites, with generously sized composite lounge-dining- kitchen. Such facilities would normally only be found in very pricey hotels at very much higher cost. It operates just like a hotel, except that there really is no bar, which would put some people off. The restaurant menu is rather limited in scope but what is provided is good, appearing to be mostly prepared to order. Large bathroom and separate toilet, which also has a washbasin, with lashings of hot water. Good double beds. My two bedrooms are each equipped with very good mosquito netting around the beds; not that there are many bugs, but it only takes one... (the mosquitos don't carry malaria but they still want to eat you]

Night time is quiet -there is the odd dog but not too close.

I would rate it as excellent if: i) wifi was more reliable, ii) there were more TV channels (no good reason for not having them); iii) a more extensive menus, but all in all its very good!

Room Tip: Low down rooms are handiest unless you are fit. Nairobi is at 1795mt (nearly 6000 feet)

I have stayed at the Ole Dume apartment hotel twice in Mar 12 and Nov 12. It offers value for money in a city that seems to have trouble generating affordable mid-range price and quality accommodations. Unlike when traveling to e.g. Bangkok getting accommodation in NBO is something that requires research in advance, in my opinion.

Thus i found Ole Dume. Quite new, at a quiet location, just a few hundred yards from the Ole Dume Road. Last time i was there they had demolished the used car business located next door, which was a source of some noise in the past but nothing worse. Big apartments in the one and two bedroom variety. Kept very clean, hot shower (each apartment has its own boiler) adequate furniture and reasonable beds. Plenty of storage space, well equipped kitchen.
Speedy check in and check out by competent staff. Nice pool and a restaurant where breakfast is served. Gym and spa located there as well. Quiet place, unless the back up generator fires up.

Disadvantage: its 5 stories high and there is NO elevator. Cant believe they didn't put that in. Would have sold so much more. Security is good, electrical fencing and guards. Safety: cant imagine anyone escaping a fire on one of the higher floors due to lack of escape routes (just the stairs are there), fire alarms etc.

Decent breakfast and room service. Beds could use a few extra pillows. No A/C or fans. Wifi intermittent depending on your location. TV channels marginal. Located centrally to shopping centers. Disregard the dates on the pics i added to this review. They were taken in Mar 12 but the place hadn't changed in Nov 12.

Room Tip: On the lower floors if your not used to jogging up stairs with suitcases and groceries.

I like Ole Dume, it's our go to place for short stays in Nairobi, friendly staff, nice pool area, clean, spacious, quiet, secure, very relaxed atmosphere. Good value for money, it's also very close to several shopping centre's. Would be nice if they had an elevator but it doesn't seem to be a priority for most apartments in Nairobi, but generally a place would recommend.

I am for a 6 months assignment in Nairobi and stay at Ole Dume Serviced Appartments. I selected it because of the very good gym, the fairly nice pool and the light and airy appartment. I have a 2 bedroom one. The bathroom is quite large with a bathtub and separate shower. The toilet is separate. 7 times a week housekeeping. They also do the dishes. Wifi is a bit unstable, but good enough to survive. The offer on DSTV is a bit limited. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. There is also a small restaurant with al fresco dining and that also serves at the pool.
I feel very at home here.

Accommodation options in Nairobi generally fall in two camps: the really expensive and the cheap and nasty.

Ole Dume isn't that expensive, especially if you negotiate a deal for a stay of a few days or more. You can knock it down to around 50 to 75 dollars per night depending on your length of stay. We stayed here for four weeks and got a cracking deal. It's got great rooms (but avoid the ones on the top floor at all cost) which are large, light and very clean.

Our one bed apartment had a kitchen, living room, balcony, bedroom and bathroom. I think they have two and three bedders too. There was a TV and wifi (generally ok for email but not the best). There's a pool and a decent onsite restaurant which does a good veg curry. They'll do room service too.

Probably the best thing is the staff who are always very helpful. I was selling a car at the time and they didn't mind the people coming and going to look at the vehicle.

Decent location too.
