i was not a guest at the hotel but i went for dinner with friends and i must say i was amazed of how poor the service was , the lady at the entrance stood there and stared at us no smile nothing , and the funniest thing was when a group of tourist walked in she was lively and friendly and made sure they were looked after ! i don't get that logic .. we waited for 30 mins untill a waitress who was summoned to serve us .... i dont know about the rest all i can say is something needs to be done !

It is a shame when a real world class hotel cannot provide a decent meal on time;
1. It took well over one and a half hours to get the food
2. The food was cold
3. The orders were all mixed up mashed potatoes vs fired vs chips all over the place
4. The lamb chops were from hell, too fatty and extreemly tough ( did i mention COLD)
5. out of a party of 9 only 2 actually ate, and they had the nerve to say " we will not charge you for the rest of the food" of course you will not charge we did not eat

A total shame to what started as a pleasant night. Thank you Daisy you were a gracious waitress, pity we will not be back

Where to start! Located 'in' the Tribe Hotel, which is itself an oasis of cool, beautiful, contemporary, eco-aware delight, Epic restaurant does not have a long menu, thank goodness, but everything I've eaten there has been exquisite, from the soups, the salads, the meat dishes and the fish... most recent visit included a steak done medium rare to perfection (you could cut it with the side of a fork). The vegetable garnishes are fresh, al dente, and as perfect as a main course might be. The vegetarian dishes are creative and delicious. In a city where every restaurant 'overdoes' the food with sickening sauces and old style preparation, the chef at Epic chooses local, organic, in season products and delivers meals that satisfy beyond expectations.

It should be noted that this restaurant, in addition to being a destination restaurant, is located in a hotel and therefore must stay flexible to serve business dinners, family lunches, sunbathers and more - they manage this incredible variety of clientele with panache and grace - AND fabulous food!

Overall Rating - 5/5
Food - 5/5
The food was delicious. I had Wasabi Bacon Burgers and Marinated Chicken Burgers, which were wonderful. The breakfast is great in the morning, with a selection of meats, fruits, juices, and your choice of eggs.
Service - 5/5
The waiters are very watchful and look out for you, whenever you need anything they are there are will refill your hot chocolate or white wine or whatever you have. They deserve a good tip.
Value - 3/5
The food is a bit overly expensive. The food is great and all, but the price is a bit too expensive. For 2 mini-burgers and fries, it costs 850 Ksh ($10.45), which is a bit too much. Soft drinks cost 150 Ksh ($1.84).
Atmosphere - 4/5
The view out of the doors in the Epic, which is at floor level, is about as good at it can get from a ground restaurant. You can see the pool and all the African plants and everything. It is pretty good, but you can view more from higher.

Our company end of year lunch was held here.
Due to the good views & the word around of how good the place was, we decided to hold our lunch there...
We were a small group of 8 people, had made reservations a few days prior to the due date.
We got there & the reception was bad, they were not aware of our reservation yet we had received even email confirmations on reservations. We had no table set for us & we had to be transferred to 4 different tables, our order for drinks took exactly 1hr 15minutes to come. Food took the same time to get served & once it came through it was cold.

I suppose our business wasn't too important to them since we kept asking to see the manager but apparently she had more important business to attend to.
We were misdirected when we asked for a smoking zone for some of our managers who needed to smoke & were instead harrased & opted to leave.
This was bad & neither me nor any of my colleagues or our managers would go back there.
I wouldn't recommend this place(The Tribe) to anyone......
Please note that this is not a fake review, i had to drive through traffic for 2hrs only to get here & get the worst service ever!!
