“Bland and stodgy”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2013 via mobile

Wide variety of bland, not very healthy, Western style fare for those who want to believe they are not In Africa, but are really in some sunny suburb of the States. Village Market is getting run down and shabby; on a busy Saturday, the sense of shabbiness had spread to dirty tables; at least the food (in huge portions) came quickly. Not a place you would go out of your way to eat in, more a place to grab something while shopping - but only if you really have to. Nairobi has so much more to offer if you get out of a sense of denial that you are actually in Africa.

Lovely architecture, great shops, good food, a wonderful fun place to see how wealthy Kenyans unwind.

“Under construction!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2012

It was a very interesting market place where many types of people were shopping from locals to tourists. Much of it was being renovated so you had to really watch your step. There were all kinds of shops from small grocery stores to cafes and restaurants to children's toy store, t-shirt shops etc.

“Very nice-looking and interesting layout, but EXPENSIVE and out of the way!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2012

We went to this mall because we wanted to visit the Masaai Market there and only had one day to do it. It's way out from the main part of Nairobi, though I think if you're with the UN, their headquarters is nearby.

The layout was creative and very interesting. There didn't seem to be a great variety or quantity of shops and most were very upscale and very expensive. They did have most the standard shop-types, but I didn't see a good bookstore. The masaai market was a lot of fun, but did seem quite overpriced (even when you spend a LONG time trying to bargain for a good price). The food court had a lot of interesting options, mostly in the same fairly pricey range with average quality. The food court area seemed like it would've been a lot of fun and relaxing, but it was under construction and thus really not very enjoyable.
