“Perfect food and ambience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2014

The food and service were absolutely sensational. I had peri peri prawns, my husband lobster and my girlfriend crab. The serves were large and we were treated to complimentary appetisers and dessert! My 9 year old was also well catered for with fish and chips so he was happy. We actually arrived before opening time as we had been out all day and did not want to go back to our hotel and then have to brave the traffic again. The Manager was lovely and attended to us with great hospitality. Totally recommend.

“Out of this world”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2014

Visited for dinner with a friend...

We got very good assistance from the reservations office with directions since they had moved to Karen area in March / April?

When we arrived we were received very well by a lady called Juliana who led us to the restaurant.

The interior is fabulous with a touch of arabic bronze lamp shades. Our table no.11 was right next to the fire place...wow. We were treated to complimentary amuse bouche biting before our starters arrived.

I had the amaranth and prawns soup while my partner had the tuna sashimi for starters. One word - divine.

For the main course we shared a hot sea food platter( oysters, shrimp, calamari, lobster etc)! Again - this was a delicious treat! The prawns and lobster were done just right - I am not a fan of over done or under done lobster! They even threw in mussels! Overall the food was outstanding and true to the Tamarind's fame.

Our waiter - Mukula , did a very good job, was attentive and available. Service was personal yet not intrusive.

I loved the back ground jazz music that played at a low volume.

The maitre d' and Manager both checked on us while we were having our main courses and served us petit fours since were not having desserts - was too stuffed! This is was definitely a great touch. Especially the surprise of seeing our names and other interesting messages written on the plates!

Well done Tamarind, we shall definitely be back! Pricey but worth it!

“Best meal we had in Kenya”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2014

Tamarind was our after safari treat. Both the food and the service lived up to the standard we expected.
For appetizer we shared the shrimp tempura and smoked salmon with a horseradish cream sauce. Both are excellent. For the main course my son had the snapper and I had garlic shrimp. Both were cooked to perfection. The highlight of the dessert was their writing a saying on each plate and our names in chocolate. A very nice touch.
Our server and the other front of house staff were interested in our Kenyan experience and were prompt and efficient with their service.
Lastly I want to thank Purity. She was most helpful in making an internet reservation and advising us on their dress code.
