The staff at Sandavy are absolutely wonderful. Phyllis is an amazing hostess, Peter's smile could light up the sky, and Moses makes some killer fried eggs.

We had a wonderful stay at Sandavy-- it's a very secure place, with a family feel to the way they do business (though if boundaries are important to you, you can have that too). Sandavy offers a nice breakfast every morning complete with masala tea (you just have to ask). Phyllis will help you with just about anything, the rooms are very clean with good natural light (personal preference), and it's near a large supermarket mall with fairly good restaurants.

Only downsides are that the internet/wifi is incredibly slow. Then again, that might just be par for the course (we didn't find fast internet much of anywhere we went).

Sandavy Guest House (B&B) is a wonderful place to stay. We enjoyed the entire experience - the staff is incredibly helpful and energetic. Breakfast was lovely everyday - dinners were great as well. Staff will help with transportation, laundry, getting around Nairobi, Safari's etc. We did a 1 day safari that was a great value and really incredible. Enjoy your stay!

Overall happy with the stay.

This place is quite basic bare bones but had all the essentials and was very affordable.

The location is in a nicer part of town. The grounds were quite lovely and safe as well.

The service was excellent. They provided us with transportation to/from the airport. They also set us up with an excursion to Nairobi National Park and Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage.

Also they have an excellent cook/chef, who made vegetarian meals for my wife.

We used this as our home base both before and after our Masai Mara Safari, whom we booked with William Mangi of Kenya Explorer Safaris.

The staff provide excellent service and respond to all questions and concerns. They go the extra mile to ensure a great experience in Kenya. The food is excellent and affordable (for dinner). Their touring services gave us a unique and customized experience. We selected the places we wanted to see and even some of the accommodations in those places. David provided a specific itinerary and answered numerous questions about the guest house and the safari planning. The adjusted as we desired in many instances. The driver (James) for our safari knew the name of every animal and every bird that we saw. We traveled with two adult children, so all accommodations were customized to our situation. We highly recommend Sandavy Guest House AND their touring services.

This well maintained guesthouse, situated far enough from the city centre to feel safe, but close enough to get to the city centre by bus in less than 30 minutes, has been the one place for me to hide away for the hectic city life. Not that it's deserted as I have been hardly alone in the guesthouse for the three months I stayed there and met quite a lot of interesting people.

A wide price-range makes this guesthouse interesting for both backpacking and high end travelers. I've had a great time while staying here.

Regards,

Adri

I stayed at Sandavy Guesthouse in between my safaris during December 2009. The guesthouse has been lovingly restored and the attention to detail is second to none. During my various stays I stayed in the Greater Flamingo, Lesser Flamingo and Cordon Bleu rooms. Each room was very comfortable, clean and private. The staff couldn't do enough for me, they were extremely friendly and helpful. Meals were great - healthy and tasty. The property is quiet, safe and secure.

Although the guesthouse is not in the centre of town I preferred this and enjoyed the short walk to the nearby YaYa Centre. If I needed to travel anywhere that was more than walking distance Sandi and David organised one of their reputable drivers to take me.

Unlike large hotels, Sandavy is intimate, friendly and I meet some lovely people from all over the world staying there. When I am in Nairobi again I will stay at Sandavy Guesthouse and recommend others do too.

My husband and I stayed at Sandavy for 3 nights on our first trip to Africa, prior to going on safari. It was a clean and very comfortable place to stay. The gardens are lovely, location is quiet and secure. David and Sandi have an excellent knowledge of the needs of westerners and the culture of Africa, which is very helpful to new arrivals.
They arranged a driver to pick us up at the airport and for a tour of the city, which was very interesting and reasonably priced. Drivers were top notch, which is important, because driving in Nairobi is not for the faint of heart! Staff at the guest house were great!
There were many interesting guests from all over the world, which made it a stimulating and interesting place to stay, much better than impersonal hotels. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a safe comfortable place to stay in Nairobi.
