This place is really excellent value for money and the owners, Sandi and David, are incredibly helpful- I think they also organise safaris, although we had already booked ours. It's an older style of house with just a few rooms. Some with private bathroom, some with shared, also a 'bunk room' which means people in other rooms may be walking through. There is a comfy lounge with TV and a quiet garden. Nice not to be in a big hotel. Staff helpful and everything clean and comfortable. Plenty for breakfast and they will also cook lunch and evening meals although we didn't have time to try anything. Rooms simply furnished and not 5 star, but the price reflects that and it certainly had everything we needed. A bit of 'old' Nairobi, yet close to some shops and not far from town. Lovely.

Wonderful option if you're looking for a quiet spot. A bit outside the city center (taxi to center, about KES 500-600), this was once a family home located in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by similarly quiet private properties. Small nice garden, clean well appointed rooms (some are rather small, but this is all accurately described on their website) with comfy beds and very soft sheets and towels (often not true in Kenya), shared bathrooms with hot showers no bathtubs (also very clean), living room with TV if you wish, porch room, and umbrella'd table out in garden. Wireless internet access a godsend. Breakfast, varying from day to day including cereal, eggs, muffins, included in room rate. Lunch and dinner can be arranged, and were good. Seems like many guests are cheerful volunteer workers, and most seem to be out during the day. (Therefore this was a great place for me to work on my laptop without disturbance.) Extremely friendly managers and staff, can arrange various excursions or transport. Probably not the best option if you want ready access to active night life, and the nearest big shopping center (Yaya) is about a 20 min walk. Very highly recommended especially for those relishing a quiet "oasis" as a previous review called it.

Stayed at the Sandavy guesthouse in Nairobi for a total of 4 nights (in two different stays) during November. It is an extremely pleasant and comfortable guesthouse located approximately 15-20 minute (500 KSH) cab ride from the City Center (sometimes less/sometimes more depending on the time of day).

The staff was excellant. The cook prepared a satisfying breakfast each morning and we choose to have dinner prepared there 3 of our 4 nights. Sharing of bathrooms with some rooms but not that big of an inconvenience.

The grounds are very quiet; it probably would't be the best choice for younger travelers looking for club action or nightlife but for couples or families I would highly recommend it. Our group of 4 also partook of 2 customized tours arranged by the Sandavy owners and we were very happy with the arrangements.

I would unquestionably stay here again.

My wife and I recently extended our Kenyan/Tanzanian packaged safari with a 3-night stay at Sandavy Guest House. The rates were very reasonable, the rooms, grounds and surroundings very pleasant and safety was taken very seriously. They employ a full-time cook who made us delicious dinners at very reasonable cost in addition to the included breakfast. Proprietors Sandi Carlile and David Thuku provide individual attention which really makes a big difference over a big corporate-type hotel. Best of all, Sandi and David operate Sandavay Tours from the B&B. We told them what we wanted to see while in Nairobi, they made some suggestions and put together 2 days of touring in a van with a driver that really enhanced our time there. This is a great alternative to a standard hotel which would be equally suitable for adult couples, singles, families with children and students.
