“Very good budget hotel in the city centre ....no problems here”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014

We came from a top rated property a long way from town.....it cost a fortune in taxis to get anywhere and for a private room with its own bathroom was twice the cost of what we are paying at the Embassy. Its a fantastic budget hotel for travellers who want to be right in the City. Lots of great (and cheap!) eating options close. Very quick to work out how the local matatu (minivan taxis) run, from where etc.....everyone on these have been great - no negative comments at all quite the opposite - we have felt very welcome by everyone here in Nairobi - hotel, people on the streets, in the restaurants and minivans/buses etc. We are from New Zealand so always asking for directions etc and everyone has been amazing and so helpful! We love Kenya and we love the Embassy. Stayed 2 nights before going on a budget safari (a definite must do by EVERYONE to the Masai Mara!!!) they looked after our bags while we were away, all very safe and cant rate highly enough. Since back we have stayed 5 nights - tv, own bathroom with lots of hot water, great bed, clean sheets/towels...a bit noisy but what do you expect in the middle in town!! Would definitely recommend to everyone and stay here again! THANK YOU EMBASSY....

Room Tip: The front rooms or back rooms are probably both a bit 'city' noisy....2nd, 3rd and 4th floor...

Stayed there for a couple of days some weeks ago. The hotel is cheap, centrally located with quite big rooms. However, it did not look like it had been cleaned thoroughly for quite some time, especially the hallway.
You should not try and get some advice from the staff since they are obviously biased and not telling you the cheapest or best choices (In my experience). They did not tell us the basic rules, for example on when to check out, and you are not going to see them hanging up anywhere around. And if you decide to use their safety box, do a list of what you put INTO the safe, and what you take OUT. Lets just say I wouldn't use their safe again.

Just unbelievably comfortable for the price. And as I expected from the 25 dayer on this page, the staff are all really lovely and everything just feels comfortable and nice. Nothing is ever a problem (bicycle, receipts, odd requests), hot water and internet work perfectly for me (three days so far on 3rd floor), I've stayed Thursday to Saturday and no noise at all any time of day (contrary to other reports here), small single is big enough even shared with bicycle, with lots of practical features (desk, drying rails, cupboards, shelves, bedside lamp, net, etc), although peeked at their deluxe and they look really gorgeous. Hot shower is powerful on 3rd floor and divine. Supermarkets, restaurants, bars, etc all a minute away. Been out all hours alone and never had any trouble. And whenever you arrive at the hotel you are greeted with wide genuine cheery smiles. And one of the cheapest places in Nairobi. I'm on expenses so could go upmarket but personally prefer this kind of place to a sterile international.

This is a good budget option in a convenient and (relatively) quiet part of Nairobi. The rooms are basic but spacious, clean, and self-contained with hot water (though our shower head didn't work). The hotel doesn't allow alcohol but has a restaurant with good and inexpensive local food. For the price it's a good option for travelers in Nairobi for a short visit or in transit.

The room was clean and quite big. Hotel is perfect if you need a place to sleep and leave you luggage. It's located in the city center so you can find shops, reastaurants, ATM not far from the hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Embassy is a realy good choice.

I spent 3 night in hotel embassy and it was really good..the room was clean and the bed was comfortable..the bathroom was a little bit old but it work..the staff was helpful and nice
it is just in front of city markets and near restaurants and supermarkets.
I recommend it to a budget travelers who need a place for sleep and showers

Room Tip: try to get a room in higher floors and away from the stairs.

Stayed at embassy hotel on 2 occasion in september both just for one night, the day we picked up our 4x4 for a self drive safari & 10 days later when we returned 4x4 & waited to fly home the next night. Having been in East Africa for previous 3 weeks travelling up from Zanzibar it was the first pre-booked accommodation where there wasnt a problem of some sort on arrival. We had only booked that day & when we turned up everything was swiftly dealt with, with a smile by a lovely old gentleman on the desk, within 10 minutes we were in our room having our first hot shower in days. As we found out on our 2nd stay the hot water isnt permanent & our 2nd stay after 10 days on safari was greatly let down by no hot water, but this time we had not booked & just turned up. The hotel sorted security for the 4x4 with a small charge of £1 to the local security guard to watch through the night. The hot water issue should not disract you away from this hotel as most budget hotels in east africa only had temporary if any hot water. The place was safe, clean, mosi nets provided & I would say on both occasions good beds. There isnt much space in the room as african beds are big & fill most of it. The wifi is slow in rooms but better in halls & reception. There is a restaurant but we never ate there so could not comment. As for the area being dangerous at night on both occasions me & my son stayed out past midnight at one of the 4 bars nearby & never felt threatened or seen any threatening activity what so ever either in bars or on way to/from the hotel. There are a lot of banks/busineses in the area so there is a security guard every 5 minutes on the adjoining streets & at least 3 security guards on street the Embassy is on. In front of the embassy is a gift/meat market not sure about the meat but the market sells the same African trinkets sold all over East Africa so its a good place on your last day for buying all the things you have seen without carrying them round with you before you fly home from Nairobi. The hotel is close to the center of Nairobi with plenty of banks, shops, food & bars nearby plus 5 minutes walk to local park & 15 minutes walk to Museum/University. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Get a room at the front of hotel as the view of the city center is better than that of the adjoining...
