“Do not forego Fogo Gaucho”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2012

I have visited this restaurant twice and both my visits have been highly satisfying. The lunch priced at ksh 1400/- consisting of a splendid salad bar, cheese, ham and followed by flame grilled chicken drums, boneless chicken, beef ribs, pork, crocodile meat, fish, prawns and many more foods which I was too full to sample is pleasantly over whelming. The service is executed by friendly and willing staff. the ambiance is good. I wonder at this price, how does this establishment make a profit, needless to say I am one of the many happy customers. I recommend this restaurant without any reservations.

“Go hungry”

Excellent food, very reasonably priced but be prepared to pay over the top prices for very average wine. Highly recommended.

“Favorite Restaurant in Nairobi!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2012

Fogo Gaucho is a MUST visit on the Nairobi restaurant circuit! We eat here at least once every trip to Nairobi and have taken numerous friends out to eat here. We've never seen anyone leave disappointed. The salad bar alone, with its large variety of salads, side dishes, huge round of parmesan cheese and ham, is worth the $20/person. The meat is always fantastic...with multiple cuts brought to the table, sizzling hot and juicy from the grill. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Reservations are recommended on weekends and around holidays (we were turned away for not having a reservation on a Monday night around Christmas time.)

“strange habit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2012

fogo has nice cuts of meat and the salad is exceptionally great though they removed the rudolf salad that they used to serve when they first opened.

On arrival, they bring these little meat / cheese pastries to the table, while you settle down, order drinks, etc. you can then walk over to the salad table and have you fair share of salads, cheeses, a warm dish etc.

then all thorugh your meal you can get to eat different types of meat, fish and chicken.

Now the strange bit is that after your meal, if you wihs to carry teh 3-4 pastries that they had given you at the start of themeal, tehy refuse. They refuse so empahtically and the waiters say they have been ordered by the brazilian owner/managers not ot allow clients to take teh pastires away.

I've been going there alomst every 3 months since they opened and this strange habit persists. I have always asked why? do they wish to re -serve tehm to the next clients?

So generally, what we do is we cut them up in piceces so they are not served to other customers.

by and large, save for that - they do serve teh best meats in tehir croner of nairobi, but then again, they do not have competiton!
