“The best hostel in the world”

Sadly I only stayed here for one night before I moved on from Nairobi but it was a real pleasure. The setting beautiful, it was like a mini British mansion house with a beautiful garden in which the amazing en-suite tents are set. Very peaceful and quiet, particularly for a city like Nairobi. The accommodation and food were both excellent, the beer was cheap and cold. It was a pleasure hanging out with the manager, his wife and their dogs, shooting the breeze on their terrace.

This is a great place to ease into your holiday in Kenya. It is very inexpensive but the tents are quite luxurious for a budget place. We stayed at the ensuite de luxe tent and we could have invited many more people. Lots of space.
The setting is great too as the tents are all pitched in the garden where masai guards watch out for unwanted guests. As do fatty and baddy the camp's dogs.
Staff is very friendly and helpful. The buffet dinner was delicious.
A real gem in the middle of hectic Nairobi.

We booked a double tent for 3 nights but got a twin for the first 2 then they swapped the beds for a double as they needed the singles, We didn't have an issue with the singles, I'm sure they would have swapped them for us had we asked.
We booked an airport pick up which was waiting for us and was efficient, we also ordered food for our late night arrival and ate in house on one other night, both meals were buffet style and were of a high standard and had plenty of choice (if you tell them about dietry requirements they cook something special for you) Wildebeest also have a folder of daytrips & safaris that they can organise for you, we went on the Kibera slum tour, it was excellent and our guide Sande was lovely, he looked after us extremely well. About a 5 minute walk from Wildebeest there is a secure forex bureau (with security) and a really nice Ethiopian restaurant and Kenyan cafe (all in the China Centre)
The price of the accomodation for the standard, was excellent, we were really pleased with our choice. The staff were lovely too, helpful and friendly. It also has cheap fast internet. Tip: take earplugs, the area is so quiet that if a couple of guests are noisy on the terrace the sound travels a long way.

We started and ended our tour of Africa in Wildebeest. Our stay was very good. We had the chance to see all different styles of accommodation and they offer something for every budget and choice! Food was delicious and hospitality of owners and staff was great. This is really a place to recommend! You will meet a lot of other travelers/backpackers and will be able to share stories. Make your reservations! :)

Good location and variety of accommodation offered. We have stayed in the main house (shared bathroom), as well as a garden tent (there was no electricity when we were there, and shared bathroom). There are also garden tents with en suites. Staff are friendly. Issues with hot water in the shared bathrooms each time we have visited.
