Nice hotel with an excellent location at the bank of the river Nile. Unfortunately the pool was closed because of maintenance. Wonderful view from the hotel terrace. Peaceful and quiet. Most of the rooms have balcony facing the Nile, but we didn't because it was a three-beds room.

Stayed at the lotus for 2 nights , fabulous views with hotel on the banks of the Nile !! We were upgraded to a suite , very big with those fantastic views. Reception staff very helpful and friendly . Breakfast good and plenty of it , pool side service not so good , but would stay there again. Hotel very clean in every aspect .

Room Tip: Book a room with a Nile view

We stayed at the Lotus Hotel 19th - 25th of September.

This is a great value for money hotel!!! We booked a Junior Suite. The room was clean, very large with two balconies and a SUPERB view of the Nile. Lots of Tv channels if you get bored of the sun, beautiful views and pool, I didn’t. The staff was very nice especially the front desk who always tried to help us out when we needed.

Breakfast was simple (coffee, tea, bread, baked goods, juice, yogurt, omelet).
The hotel restaurant is good and I would recommend it since going out is always a hassle and the food is the same, with the same price.
Also the sandwiches they offer to be eaten at pool side are great!!!

Regarding the presence of older women with young Egyptian men, we saw a lot of it but they acted as normal guest and that happens everywhere in Luxor. Egypt is famous for that so just enjoy your vacation and stop taking care of other people lives.

If you don’t like to be stared at sometimes don’t go to Egypt, this will happen either inside the Hotel or outside.

I'm surprised to see some very bad reviews of this Hotel. This is not an upscale type of place (look at the price!!!) if you want 1st class service don’t be cheap and go somewhere else.

The Hotel fulfilled all of our needs. We had a GREAT stay.

Room Tip: Junior Suite

Stayed at the Lotus for 4 nights, nice spot and very helpful staff. Not the cheapest you can find in Luxor but certainly very good value for money. Great views of the Nile and the Valley. Buffet breakfast is reasonable but then "buffet" in front of anything is usually great if you ask me. Room service food wasn't anything special but convenient (I'd recommend one of the better places to eat a short walk down the street). All in all this was a great place to stay.

its only a small hotel, its jewel set between the sonesta and steigenberger hotels, the view is thee most stunning in luxor , and on a clear day, [ of which there are many ] you can see hapshetsut's mortuary temple, and see all the balloons flying high, the hotel staff are absolutely super, the service is exceptional, its could do with a lick of paint and some fixing up in the bed rooms, but the staff make up for the short fall in decor, the pool is kept pristine clean..if pool side is your thing then you could not ask for better,i have stayed twice now in this hotel.,Mr Mohamed on the desk is delightful, and is eager to please, if your a single women traveleing ,this is the best hotel to stay at, if you can get a room on the third floor, esma the maid is outstanding at keep your room ship shape, nothing is to much trouble,i felt i was in a family hotel as all the staff respect one another.. debbie .x

Room Tip: i would say the right side, i stayed in 302, it was perfect for me as the sun was never on the balc...

We are just back from a one week stay at this hotel, surpassed all our expectations based on some previous reviews seen on this site. Staff are some of the friendliest we have had the pleasure to deal with-nothing was too much trouble. Food in the hotel had a good level of variation and standard, just watch out for the really tall restaurant supervisor who has an obsession with making sure you go home twice the weight you arrived!. Mustafa who was the main barman is a great guy and he goes out of his way to ensure you are looked after whether you are going out sightseeing or staying in and around the hotel or shops etc outside, the pool is immaculate and the pool staff can't do enough for you.
Due to the issues that Egypt's revolution threw up Egypt as a whole is quiet from a tourism point of view-however this has numerous advantages for the tourists who still decide to go - tours are generally cheaper inc balloon rides, valley of the kings etc, we paid well below what we expected for the West Bank tour and still got our own personal Egyptologist as a guide. All in all a fantastic 7 days, thanks to all at the hotel for making our stay a most memorable one.

We had a tremendous holiday staying at the Lotus Hotel. Everyone in the hotel was very helpful and friendly and we can't fault it at all. It was in a pleasant part of the city and each time we went out, the locals greeted us and by the time we left, they were like old friends. There were a number of nice restaurants in the area as well as decent shops, and there is no criticism we can fairly lay to any part of the holiday. We recommend Joans Resaurant, only about 50 metres from the hotel, and had a couple of really nice meals there. For a light lunch we went up to 'The Secret Garden', which is run by a lovely Englishwoman and which has free wi-fi. The bank PNB Paribas opposite has an ATM which takes our English bank cards.
The breakfast was certainly excellent and the staff are very helpful, even carrying our plates from the buffet to the table for us.
The pool was very clean and well looked after, and all in all the staff were excellent.
We had an upgraded room, the Nile-view suite which again was very nice. It had two balconies overlooking the Nile as well as three rooms so we had tons of room. There was a fridge as well, so we could keep our drinks cool.
There is no doubt that we will return as soon as we can. Thanks very much!!

Room Tip: Ask for a Nile view junior suite
