“Top Quality Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

Stayed a couple of days in Luxor and found this hotel to be great. The location is really good and offered the benefit of views over the nile. The rooms were very large and clean with the added benefit of rather cool as well. The beds were extremely comfortable and large and unlike other hotels in Egypt the rooms were very quiet, which much be due to the solid walls. Overall a really good hotel at an excellent price.

Friendly staff, lovely room with a view of the Nile. Very good value and can have no problem recommending this hotel. The restaurant in open air and overlooks the Nile. Our room was large and clean. Good location.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 8

The restaurant was open late one night when most other places were closed so we had no choice but to try a meal there.
The manager seemed more interested in chatting up a couple of young ladies than looking after other customers but that doesnt matter that much.
We had a couple of pizzas between us and although they were very oily they tasted quite nice and were full of flavour.
BUT once we got back to our apartment we were up and down to the toilet all night. So whether it was the oil, or maybe something else more sinister, we didnt go back.
& this is the only place we ate in Egypt where the restaurant deemed it appropriate to add a service charge to the bill. We prefer to choose the amount of the tip so after doing that the tip wasnt much!

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your visit to Nile Valley and I'm happy you enjoyed your pizza.
The small group (no young girls, but a mixed group of man and woman) that was there in the same time as you , were a group of guests/ friends that had their last evening and they invited me for a drink. I did not speak to you directly but I did ask te staff if all was ok with your order and if you enjoyed it, (the plates came back empty so i thought all was fine).
I'm sorry you had an upset tummy, but as you ate the pizza late at night and later you went up and down to the toilet, I do not believe it was the pizza, if the pizza was bad you would have had stomach pain and maybe throw up but not have diarrhea so quickly, I feel it is unfair to blame the pizza (and Nile Valley Hotel) on this public review when you cannot be sure the pizza was the cause. We are very keen on the health safety rules in our kitchen (our staff has strict orders to follow them) and we only use filtered water (professional filtering system) for cooking.
On our Menu (it is in English) it says at the bottom of every page, in fat print that we add a service charge, so you knew up front, in other hotels in Luxor they often add 22% to the bill (10 % service, 12 % taxes) this is very common in Egypt .
I hope you will visit us again the next time you are in Luxor.
Best regards,
Hamada Khalifa

We stayed in Luxor to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary - the whole holiday was marvellous and truly memorable thanks to the staff and owners of the Nile Valley Hotel. On our Wedding Anniversary we were presented with a card and a basket of fruit which was very thoughtful. The room was kept clean every day with the added fun of arriving back to find the towels folded into different shapes! The view from our bedroom and the rooftop restaurant was idyllic - an ideal vantage point to watch life going by on the West Bank. We would thoroughly recommend staying on the West Bank as it is far more peaceful than the East Bank which is easily accessible via the local ferry (costing 10p per journey). Hamada and Karin Khalifa were extremely helpful with organising trips for us which were very relaxing as we were driven to each site and left to wander round without the pressure of a guide. The Nile Valley was a haven after the heat of the day with the rooftop restaurant and the inviting pool. We enjoyed the food provided by the hotel which was reasonably priced and tasty. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Our room was in the newer part of the building overlooking the pool. It was quiet with perfect view...

I spent 10 days in this hotel in Luxor recently and the whole experience was one of friendliness, hospitality and fun. From the views of the Nile, from the rooftop bar/diningroom and the bedroom window, to the novelty folded towels each morning, everything combined to make me want to go back as soon as possible. In fact I've started saving! This holiday is not for those who want sun, sea and sand, but to experience the real Egypt, go to Luxor and if you do, go to the Nile Valley hotel.

Room Tip: The new rooms are more spacious and overlook the pool, but the older rooms look out onto the Nile

I have just spent ten days at the Nile Valley Hotel on the West Bank in Luxor. This is a family run hotel where nothing is too much trouble. There is nothing more pleasant than sitting with a cool glass of wine in the rooftop restaurant, watching the constant activity on the Nile. My friends and I felt welcome and comfortable amongst an excellent team of staff and their creative talents with towels have to be seen to be believed. Their creations made us laugh every day. I would go back tomorrow if I could.

Room Tip: Rooms on the pool side are quieter but do not have a view of the Nile

I had a great week at Nile Valley hotel.
The hotel is clean and quiet (luxor west bank is a lot more quietter than east bank). It has a nice swimming pool that we used every day.
The restaurant on top of the hotel have a nice view on the Nile.
The staff and the boss are really friendly and helpful.
If I go back to Luxor, I will book the same hotel.
