Owner description: The karnak temple is one the distinguished identifying marks of Luxor in Egypt, where each of consecutive kings tried to make his temple most magnificent so as to be so distinguished than his predecessor, so the Karnak temples changed to a complete guide and collection showing the development stages of ancient Egyptian art and distinguished pharaonic architecture.

we visited in the evening for the Sound and Light Show - a bit 'kitsch' but you still got a sense of the sheer genious of the ancient Egyptian architects.

Walking between the massive pillars which are decorated with carvings and hearing the stories of how the pharaos already at that time tried to hide each other's monuments were fascinating. The remains of temporary bricks which shows how some of the walls were built and the big artificial lake are interesting to see as well.

A fantastic temple with beautiful columns and hieroglyphics, stretching over a large area. Statues at front of temple also impressive

Very quiet due to lack of tourists, good for us but not for Luxor. I am in awe every visit. Will return February 2013

Amazing place - with an amazing history! This was the highlight of our stay in Luxor. We booked our trip with a private guide. I highly recommend you avoid tours by buses. We were also very lucky with the weather. We unfortunately did not go to the light and sound evening. Some people we met told us it was worth it.

Thank SaraBrussels
