Owner description: This desert valley contains the ancient burial ground of many Egyptian pharaohs. Among over 60 royal tombs is the famous Tomb of Tutankhamen that was found in pristine condition.

If you are going here, arrive early! By 8.30 the place was starting to fill up with coaches. I think the ticket office opens at 6AM. There is a complete ban on photo's in the valley, other than the car park. The paintings are quite spectacular and the colours (even down to the Greek christian graffiti) beautiful after over 3000 years. The differences between the tombs of rulers with a short reign and long reign is very noticable. The sheer detail the Egyptians managed in the imagery, when they had time, is incredible. It's also noticable how the overall artistic style changed hardly at all over the 1000 year period these tombs cover. So overall, worth going but be aware you can't take pictures so the memories will be private.

Since the complete ban on cameras, 2 o 3 years ago, both above and below ground,I can not recommend this site.

Without a camera one probably pays more attention to the site, but one has no record of it.

The Tomb of Siptah is way up in the Valley of the Kings, but still accessible with a short walk from where the tram lets you off. We had been to other more famous tombs in a previous trip; this one was open and we wanted to get away from the crowds. What a wise decision. The ceilings still have glorious color. The wall hieroglyphs glow with vibrant color, too. Best of all, we had the tomb to ourselves and could fantasize that we were discovering it. That feeling made this trip to the Valley of the Kings more memorable than our first one in 2011. Give Siptah a chance to seduce you!

In the middle of the desert there is a valley where the time seems blocked from thousands of years.
In this valley you can feel like Indiana Jones and enter and explore painted cavern and amazing subway tunnel build by one of the greatest ancient civilization.

The walking down the tunnel and the hiking all the way back to the ground was definitely worth all the beauty hidden underground. I went to the tomb of Ramses III and the walls & ceiling were filled with colored hieroglyphs. Such a great experience to see such well-preserved hieroglyphs. You can see the details and how precise they did it. The tomb of Tutankhamun was worth the ticket price because you get to meet him in person down there... and the grand sarcophagus as well. Must not miss it when you're in Luxor!
