almost nobody in this museum also it is a very nice place to visit . We watch the film close to the books shop . We also watched 2 interesting small films on TV inside the museum about papyrus and potery.

Unlike much of what we saw in Egypt, this was well layed out, with a lot of labeling and explanation of what could be seen- did a great job with varied topics of collections

We visited this museum on the 2nd week of our recent stay, having already been to several temples and other sites. Although it's not the biggest museum you'll find, the first thing that pleases is the fact that you can get up close to so many of the exhibits - many of them are displayed in the round, with only the smaller, delicate items being kept in temperature / moisture controlled cabinets. All the exhibits are very clearly described and where possible well lit.

As photos are not allowed within the museum you might be tempted (as I was) to buy a guide book. There are 2 shops - one just inside the compound of the museum (books only) and the other just at the entrance to the museum itself. This one sells all the usual 'gifts' one might expect plus a range of books which the owner will be more than pleased to do a deal on. Walk away and go to the other shop for books - same titles but approx. 1/3 off the price and no hassle!

I found that in Egypt everything becomes a bit the same and here we saw lots of the same. It is small but the shop was good
