“Gordon Ramsey would be shocked”
Reviewed June 22, 2014

A well appointed hotel, met Ewan McGregor who was there as well. Excellent swimming pool and facilities A.! for that Rooms were confortable and adequate. B & B the breakfast was quite varied but the same menu every day. The bacon is in fact thinly sliced beef.. More than enough sunbeds around the pool which faces the Nile. Not ideal for young children which in one way is ideal if you're not with any and want peace and quiet.
Evening meals. The Italian restaurant over rated and not like Italian restaurants in the U.K. very disappointing and too heavy on the salt; I wouldn't eat there again. The same applies for the so called Lebanese restaurant when I ordered a lebanese chop, the only thing Lebanese was the name. The chef is supposed to come from Lebanon, obviously his mother didn't teach him how to vook. Tried it a second time and it was even worse, had squid which was like chewing gim and as for the rest of the meal, you can guess. Well over priced averaged £40 a head. Evening entertainment was okay with a singer doing requests and a pianist. Beware of "hawkers" offering cheap trips to the Valley of the Kings. Tales you out mid-day the worse time for heat stroke you should do this at around 0700hrs. We found McDonalds and KFC excellent massive portions and well cooked Beware of the tout at the main entrance when you want a cab. Ignore him and get your own cab Overall a very nice hotel with excellent service and clean.

Thank you for posting your review. We are pleased that overall your enjoyed your stay with us and found the hotel clean, the service from our staff excellent and the facilities A1.We do note your comments on the food but by far the majority of our guests, as you can read here on trip Advisor, do enjoy the what we offer. Generally in Egypt the preference is for food to be moderately salted, but guests can always request the chefs for no salt to be added to their meals. Being an Islamic country we do not serve pork products and the 'bacon' and indeed the 'sausages' are clearly labelled as beef in the Nubian Restaurant. As the weather is so hot in Egypt we have to buy-in our meat and fish products in frozen form. We accept that this is not as good as using fresh products and this can sometimes compromise the quality. We hope that one day you will return and enjoy our 'very nice hotel'

This is only my 4th vist to the Steigenberger Nile Palace, but as always it is just like coming home. i arrived at 10.30pm after a long day of traveling, but the welcome i recived at reception was wonderful, luggage is taken to your room, check in takes no time at all, and you will have a wonderful nights sleep, the beds are the most comfortable i have ever slept in. The breakfast choice is amazing you are spoilt for choice. The rooms are spacious and are very clean, towels changed at least once a day. I was on a b/b basis but you can have dinner in the hotel..The swimming pool is a good size and there are plenty of sunloungers and parasols.I want to thank all the staff for again making my holiday so wonderful. i also want to thank Hassen my waiter at breakfast, he is so helpful every day he brought my pot of tea without me asking for it, also Mohamed the dining room manager at breakfast for making me smile every day. Als i want to thank Ibrahime and Ash at the pool for keeping me in the shade always moving my parasol around. I travel alone but i feel very safe in the hotel, also i must say that i walk to the restaurant outside the hotel on my own and i feel safe. Please come and vist Luxor there is so much to see . if you decide to come stay at the Steigenberger you will love it to me it is the best hotel in Luxor.

Room Tip: Try and upgrade to a room with a view of the nile.

We stayed here back before the revolution so things may have changed since but for what it's worth we were spoilt. This is a very good hotel with staff eager to help. We found plenty of other Brits here so language was no problem and helps to get tips on where to go and what to do. The food is very good with a wide range of choice we were familiar with. There were also other on site restaurants that were also worth dining at. There was plenty of security at the entrance to the hotel but as usual you do get beset on by vendors once you step out but it's fine if you're firm about saying "No" or "yes" for that matter, but never ever accept the first price. I highly recommend.

Room Tip: Try for any room over the pool

Wonderful staff, very clean hotel

I have stayed in this hotel once before and got sidetracked by cheaper options. The extra cost was worth every penny.

Breakfast was really good and a vast range of food on offer. I defy the fussiest eater not to find something to enjoy.

My room was spacious and kept very clean daily.

The pool area was clean and well maintened. The waiters and pool men were quick to cater for every need with a smile. Special thanks to Ashaf, though all staff were very obliging.

Radka is a lovely lady and visited the pool area every day to make sure all was well. She is a lovely warm person and very approachable. I had no problems but would have had no hesitation in approaching her if i had

As a single lady I felt very safe in this hotel..

I will be back in Sept/ Oct, enshallah.

Room Tip: I was on the third floor overlooking the courtyard. It was quiet and completely unaware of other gu...

Thank you for taking the time to post a review and we are pleased that you thought our hotel was beautiful and that our staff were good.
In respect of our food outlets you are correct that the Nubian Restaurant is only currently open for Breakfast due to the relatively small number of tourists visiting Luxor at this time. However we are at a loss as to why you were not aware that during the day our poolside restaurant was open for lunch and during the evening both the Italian and Lebanese Restaurants in the Courtyard Area were also open and offering a wide range of delicious meals cooked fresh to order.
Many of our UK guests do enjoy coming to Luxor particularly during the months November to early March when the weather at home is 'not so sunny and warm'.
We sincerely hope that you will be able to return and stay with us again and spend more time to enjoy the ancient sites in and around Luxor.

Lovely hotel, with staff who cannot do enough for you, very attentive. Particularly in the lebanese resturant, they are fantastic.
DO NOT have a henna tattoo from around the pool, rip off, washed off within a day and went all over the white sheets!
The spa defiantly needs work and doesnt live up to the supposed 5* standard.

Unfortuantley the holiday was ruined by the amount of hassle from the locals, being a young blonde i was apprehensive before i went on the trip and what i feared came true. It was endless from stepping outside of the hotel door, at one point my boyfriend and i were surrounded by locals telling us it wasnt safe for british people etc and we should go with them. It was a very scary experience. We also got spat on when refusing a horse and cart ride.
We also took part in all the excursions; Pyramids, Valley of Kings and Queens etc, all ruined by pestering locals. They just dont seem to understand they all deter people.
I unfortuantley would never return to Luxor.

Thank you for talking the time to post a review. We are pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay at our hotel and found our staff attentive and helpful. Many of our guests, like yourselves, do also enjoy the delights of our Lebanese Restaurant.
We are also sorry that you found that Spa was not of the standard you expected. We always welcome detailed feedback from our guests so that we can continue to improve.
In respect of the henna 'tattoo' we use brown henna which does last only for a day or two. It's considerably safer to use rather than black henna which would lasts about a week.
We are disappointed to know that you were excessively hassled once outside the hotel. What you experienced is not the norm and, as we were not there to witness the actions/reactions of the various incidents, you will appreciate that it would not be appropriate for us to comment.
We do hope that one day you might consider returning to our beautiful Nile-side Hotel.

As a multi-repeat visitor to the Nile Palace the standards and levels of service, comfort and cleanliness are something that you become accustomed to and expect. Once again I have not been dissapointed and leave with a very positive view about the hotel.

One of the larger hotels in Luxor the hotel is situated on the banks of the Nile with direct or indirect views available from many of the rooms (check room type when booking). The swimming pool, lounge bar, sunset bar and a number of the outdoor restaurants all afford great Nile views.

Such a shame that the recet past political unrest has continued to impact so profoundley on tourism levels. My stay coincided with both the recent Presidential elections and the announcement of results, at no time did I witness any unrest or feel uncomfortable either "out and about" in Luxor town or when visiting the surrounding areas. Take note though that entry visa costs have recently risen to US$25, somewhat strange when tourism is said to be key to the economy and recovery.

I enjoyed a very restful and comfortable stay and left feeling well looked after and cared for (and about) by the whole staff team both front of house and behind the scenes. I was pleased to note that since my last visit that the on site spa had reopened following renovations.

Room Tip: There are avariety of room types available that will siit most budgets. Nile view rooms are always a...

Thank you for your kind review. We were delighted to see you again and are pleased that you were, once again, able to relax and enjoy another comfortable stay.
Thank you for mentioning our newly upgraded Gym and recently opened Spa facilities which are situated on the sixth floor. We do strive to improve what we offer on-site and, so far, we are encouraged by the uptake and positive guest comments.
Thank you for also mentioning the new entry visa fees which have been increased slightly.
It's always a pleasure to see you and we look forward to welcoming you again to your 'second home'.
