“Wondeful- cannot fault the place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2010

PROS
1. Location. Right on the Nile, 10 mins from train station, 10 mins from center of town.
2. Rooms. Upgrade to Nile view- it's worth it! You'll have an unadulterated view of all the feluccas (sailboats) at sunset, the Valley of the kings, etc! Also, the quality of the rooms is what you'd expect from Sheraton- clean, comfortable, new furniture.
3. Service. True 4 star quality.
4. Value. I think we paid around £40 incl large buffet breakfast in June 2010. This represented unbeatable value!

Overall, this place -unlike others we stayed at in Egypt- is truly 4 star. The reception is big with great views, the pool is well kept ad the rooms offer a certain degree of luxury. We highly recommend.

We stayed in a bungalow at the Sheraton for 2 weeks in August - very hot!! The room was newly furnished with up-to-date decor. Our room was very clean and spacious. We stayed at the hotel as bed & breakfast guests. We were pleased about this because the lunch and dinner service menus in the main restaurant didnt have alot of choice. We did eat in the Italian and would definately recommend the Indian. The breakfast buffet had plenty to choose from and your mug is always full of tea / coffee. All the staff in the hotel work so hard to make you happy and they are all always smiling. The manager in the main restaurant is great.

Walking outside of the hotel for the first few times made us quite nervous because there are always people there with their taxis, horse and carts and the boat owners wanting to take you where ever you may be going. We learned quickly to be quite firm when saying `No Thank You`. They do get the picture after a few times but they are only trying to make a living!

We would definately recommend going to the Lantern restaurant. Its a 10minutes walk but is well worth it. Its run by an English lady called Debbie, she is lovely. We went back 5 times over the 2 weeks stay. The price of the food and drink is alot cheaper than in the hotel aswell. 7 Days, 7 Ways is also nice but has a smaller menu. Inside the Nile Palace Hotel, right at the back of the hotel is a Thai restaurant which is beautiful.

We enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton and are already planning to go back!

I have just spent 2 weeks at the sheraton, the hotel is very good and the staff are fantastic and will do their very best to provide you with whatever you need. The hotel is not very child friendly and children are expected to be seen and not heard, whilst staying there a group of about 200 japanese tourists came for 2 nights and the other guests were told they could not use the air conditioned restaurant while the japanese were there, needless to say there was uproar. The location on the nile is spectacular but the down side is that the road you have to walk along to get to luxor is full of taxis and kaleshi drivers who will constantly pester you to use their services, if you keep your head down and not speak, they will leave you alone. If you do use them, then they will often expect you to continue to use them for the duration of your stay. I travelled with my son and we met simon on kaleshi number 170, along with moustafa his friend, they took us everywhere in luxor and showed us how the local people truly live, we were invited into their family homes and my son got to spend time with the local children, they also took us to sights that the reps don't tell you about. All in all a fab hol and can't wait to go back

Stayed on the Nile Ritz boat for a week which was excellent we were lucky because we had a good crowd of people on board who were willing to enjoy themselves and let their hair down.
There was a freak sand storm followed by would you belive it rain???
apparently the rain hasnt fell for about 7 years so we were made up we were there to see it.
Second week we went and stayed at the Sheraton hotel which we thought was excellent .
The rooms were spacious and the staff were friendly.
A little advice, dont go to the pharmacy just outside the hotel he robs you blind, walk a little further on till you get to the high street theres plenty their to choose from.
Eating outside the Hotel is highly recommended and I would suggest a very good restaurant called 7days 7ways which is a family run business serving what can only be described as excellent quality food.
One of the owners names is Ash and if you need to Know anything about the local area he will give you sound trust worthy advice,so dont be scared to ask.
As you leave the hotel you will be bombed by the locals trying to get you into their taxis or kaleshes or even on a boat .Dont be afraid there only trying to make a living.
It scared the hell out of me at first and nearly put me off going out of the Hotel.
However a polite NO THANK YOU is all that is required if you decide to say anything else to them, then prepare to be harrassed to death thats up to you.
One the whole a terrific experience and we would go back again.
Oh another thing DONT pay over the odds for your trips or tours you can always get them cheaper somewhere else ask around.
And dont wonder off to much down streets where theres NO PEOPLE around that normally means you shouldnt be there.
Have a nice time and enjoy it

This hotel was in a large position about a mile from the Luxor temple etc. We had one of the flower bed bungalows which were large, sensible dimensions and established just adjacent the major hotel. I recall the morning meal room and the alternative that you had. It was astonishing a large 4 aligned morning meal bar from baked cake to new crop and prepared food breakfast. The hotel was costly to drink in but It was alike additional where, the amusement was supplied in the major bar in the night, a pleasant resting location at the end of a hard day sunbathing by the astonishing pool overlooking the Nile. The hotel furthermore suggested vessel journeys and other coordinated journeys which were a sensible price. The local taxis the customary equine were Just out-of-doors waiting to take you a journey along the major street which ran along edge the Nile.

The room was small but yet comfortable and clean. It was very hot when we were there so we didn't explore the swimming pool on the bank of the Nile, but it looked really pretty.

The breakfast buffet was quite good but we found the lunch menu in the coffee shop quite small. The Italian restaurant wasn't that great but staff were very enthusiastic to please guests. Indian restaurant had great food and again the service was up to standard.

The only downside and the worst we ever experienced from our global trotting was the breakfast box that we requested the hotel to supply since we were leaving for the train station very early in the morning. The fruit was all rotten and moldy. The cheese and pastry seemed like they were made some years ago! We couldn't believe our eyes when we opened the boxes. They were all the same.

I stayed for one week in July , being allocated one of the bungalows . The rooms have been totally refurbished with twin double beds in each which are so comfortable . The Sheraton has it's 5 star rating well deserved . I am told that there is an ' infinity pool planned ' , will look forward to returning to find out
