My daughter and I did the 3 night Aswan to Luxor Nile cruise. It was absolutely fantastic! The sites visited are amazing and the fact that you can settle in and the ship brings you to them made it very enjoyable. From the beginning Georgina was extremely helpful and made my difficult time frame into a fantastic itinerary!
I think we got very lucky and had an amazing guide Ahmed F. He met us at the airport after a long flight and made us feel welcome and pampered from the first minute. He was so knowledgeable and brought the sites alive while making us feel safe and taken care of. There wasn’t one thing he didn’t think about and have prepared for us. He even planned a surprise celebration for my daughter’s 21st birthday with the ships crew!
My only negative comment would be the condition of the ship. While the crew was extremely accommodating and friendly, the ship itself was old and definitely not the 5 star quality I would have preferred.
That being said the tour itself and Reflections were definitely a 5 star experience. I highly recommend them.

We bought the two days tour and it was fabulous. The guide, Yusef, has a lot of information on ancient Egypt to covered. We’ve learned a lot from him. Yusef is very good in servicing us. The van or rather mini bus we had is very nice and convenient, it was just the 8 of our group in there.

All in all, we have a wonderful time here.

Our group of four had a great time on the three-night Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor, with a very knowledgeable and kind guide named Galal. The sites themselves were the obvious highlight; some of our favorites were the Valley of the Kings, Luxor Temple and Unfinished Obelisk, and Galal’s insight was essential for us to understand what we were seeing, its significance and how it fit into both ancient and more recent Egyptian history. We would also recommend the optional hot air balloon ride in Luxor, which was a breath-taking experience. It cost us $100 USD per person in cash, and we would recommend having that with you rather than tracking down an ATM to get Egyptian pounds. We didn’t do the optional visits to Abu Simbel and a Nubian village.

As for the cruise itself, we were on the Blue Shadow, which appeared to be one of the nicer ships. The staff were friendly and the rooms and other guest areas were clean and comfortable. For Aswan to Luxor, there’s only really one day where you get an extended period to hang out on the deck by while cruising, and that was another one of our favorite parts of the trip. Watching the Nile go by while sipping on a drink of choice was a good way to recharge midway through all the temple visiting.

The only thing we didn’t love during the trip were a few visits to shops (specializing in essential oils, hand-carved alabaster and papyrus) that were part of the tour, which took time that we might have preferred spending at the sites or back on the ship. But the shop owners were hospitable and we did pick up a few souvenirs we didn’t regret.

Another nice thing that Galal did for us was provide water and other drinks during our tour days. You can also buy bottled water when the ship is docked in the evenings and bring it back on board (to avoid paying for it on the ship), so it’s not something you have to worry about beforehand.

At the end of our tour, we were made aware that the tour company prefers to be paid in cash (like a lot of Egyptian businesses). This would not have been a problem if we were made aware ahead of time, so a heads-up would have been nice. Overall though, it was an incredible experience and a trip we’ll never forget.

We booked our private tour with Reflections Travel and very happy to make this choice. The trip was well organised and our guide was great. Our guide name was Youssef who was very knowledgable and professional. He was with us even when our tour was finished as our flight was late. This shows great service.

It's hard to expect everything to be perfect in a tour with so many variables occurring. Overall, it felt like it was a draw of luck on who you get to be your guide in Cairo. And that guides matter a lot to the overall experience of the tour and the country. Our tour was on Feb 2019.

The positives:
- The tour guide on Day 2 was easy to interact with and made sure we're satisfied. He also made extraordinary effort to help us get change for our money, without losing our tour time.

- The company is responsive to calls, texts, and emails.

The negatives:
- There was an issue with the airport guy that welcomed us but that was later fully resolved with the company.

- Ali the last tour guide for our half-day Cairo tour provided a lackluster service. First he looked unkempt. 2nd, he spoke primarily only to the person I was with, occasionally looking at me. 3rd, he smoked a lot - from inside the hotel lobby when he picked us up to the sites we went. He's a chain smoker. 4th, he rushed us out of the church without explanation and we're only supposed to go to only 2 spots. His later explanation didn't add up. This was unforgiving in my opinion. 5th, he looked like he didn't sleep the night before as he slept in the car most of the time. I have photo evidence of him sleeping. The driver had to wake him up when we wanted to ask something. This happened at least twice. 6th, we also requested to get something a couple of times that he forgot, so I didn't bother to ask anymore. I think it's because his English wasn't that good. 7th, he said he had a masters degree but it didn't go along with his behavior. Therefore, that information felt superfluous and bragging. Unfortunately our trip ended with a poor tour guide - Ali

Tips for travelers:
* Get separate beds. The biggest bed from the hotel or cruise was a double/queen bed, and it was hard to sleep in for 2 people.
*The tour guides in Cairo do not always know what's in the itinerary. So make sure you know them.

Tips for the company:
*The tour contractors in Cairo seemed like a hit and miss. Find better Cairo tour guides - not Ali.
* It might be good to advise the drivers in Cairo to close the windows and just use the fan to circulate and run through the air through the filter as Cairo has a gas smoke smell.
*Provide tipping guidelines when asked by the customer. I asked the owner to provide tipping guidelines. While we're told to provide tips only when the service is great, which makes sense, it'll be good to know how much is right, too much or too little. It'll also be great to have a cheat sheet on what to tip the tour guide, driver, felucca man, motorboat people, breakfast people, restaurant people, hotel staff, & the cruise people. Searching and scouring through websites that have different info or not up-to-date info was a bit of a headache and a frustration that I wish I didn't have to experience.
