“very good by Egyptian standard,by the Nile, freshly cooked food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2013

A small restaurant that does not have a menu so lots of tourist just pass by. Conveniently located close to the ferries on the West Bank it has an outside eating area overlooking the Nile and a roof terrace too. There are usually only two dishes - dish of the day and rosemary chicken but all food is freshly cooked and come with accompanying vegetables, dips and bread. The food is well cooked and the staff are sociable but not pushy in the Luxor way.

“The Best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2013

A visit to the restaurant of Mr. Mahmoud is really a must when you visit Luxor. The best kitchen we discovered in whole of Egypt. Home made meals. Delicious original foor. Good vegetables and good meat. You get a whole meal ( the best lentil soup of the country) a main course ( some terrific stews) rice , fruitdesert and koffie or tea for a very reasonable price. The place itself is a relief after the hasseling and noisy atmosphere of Luxor. You get a boat for one pound to the west-bank walk 200 meter and you are at Mr Hadjy Mahmoud's place. You will feel veryvery welcome . Also during the daytime it is a great place to relax with a tea and some home baked sweets. Warning; after this meals all other menu's will probalby be disappointing.

“best food in egypt so far”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2013

Great small restaurant on the west bank of the Nile near the ferry. Nice garden restaurant, romantic, and roof terrace, directly on the Nile shore.
Very friendly staff, best food we had in Egypt, big portions, very acceptable prices. Clean toilets!

We definitely recommend this on!

“Go and visit Mahmoud”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2013

We had an amazing meal here when we visited in october. This restaurant is rustic home cooking at its best. You may be joined by the various lizards running across the walls but the views, delicious food and genial host,Mahmoud, will ensure you have a memorable visit.Among the various dishes he served up to our family of four were, spicy battered chicken drumsticks, rosemary chicken, spiced okra, spinach and potato sides and fresh breads.Wonderful.

“A Must Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2012

What can be better than sitting on the banks of the Nile trying food that is unique?
There is no menu, we just had what ever was cooked that day, the food is superb, fresh, tasty and different.
The owner is a character and adds to the atmosphere.
It was so nice to get away from the normal restaurants and try something different.
