Owner description: The Karnak Sound and Light Show highlights the dramatic history of ancient Thebes. The show narrates the achievements of some great Pharaohs, with poetic descriptions of the ancient treasures. As visitors walk through the complex, the pharaohs arise to tell the story of their interesting lives, as haunting music mysteriously flows through this ancient city. Ancient and poetic voices tell the visitors about the birth of Karnak temple and the heroic achievements of the pharaohs and the god Amun. It is an enchanting and supernatural experience to listen to sound effects and gaze at the magnificent ruins illuminated during the well-presented show.

We saw the light show at Giza a few years ago, but this one was different in the fact that the first 30 minutes you walked through the temple and stopped at different locations. The last 30 minutes you were seated. Interesting to see Karnak at night lit up. Sound and Light Show went through the history of Karnak and Luxor.

The day before we visited Karnak temple during the day time and it was amazing. Seeing it at night, made it even more special.
We received multiple offers to have a tour group guide take us for about $40. DO NOT DO THIS
Save your money and just have your hotel drop you off or grab a taxi.
We stayed in an Airbnb and the host provided a taxi driver that took us to many places, for about $2-$5USD for 3 people. I will leave his contact info down below.
Our taxi driver left us at the entrance of the temple. You walk in, get your bag checked. Walk across the courtyard and right before fully entering the temple. There is a ticket stand for the sound and light show. It's 200LE = $11USD per person.
Once you purchase your ticket , you walk in, get your ticket checked and the show begins. The first 30 min of the show, you are standing and the pillars/columns of the temple look absolutely beautiful with the lighting.
After those 30 min....you walked towards the sacred lake and sit for another 30 min and j7st watch the lights, while they tell different stories.
The first part was really nice, the second part...I caught myself dozing off a good amount of times, it could be better. But for $11 it wasn't horrible. It's such a sight to see this huge temple at night. If it's your first time in Luxor, I would recommend spending the $11, even if the second half of the show is a little slow.

The show is really interesting. It lasts an hour. The first half hour is spent walking around the temple in a group whilst images are projected around you, it's great, really brings the temple to life. The last half hour I spent spent sitting whilst a display is projected in to the temple wall.
The shows are at 7 & 8pm daily.

We loved the sound and light show at Karnak Temple. We hadn't seen it first which was a good way round we thought. The darkness added to the mystery and the description was good. The next day we were very pleased to see it in daylight and understood what the carvings etc meant.
