Owner description: The Karnak Sound and Light Show highlights the dramatic history of ancient Thebes. The show narrates the achievements of some great Pharaohs, with poetic descriptions of the ancient treasures. As visitors walk through the complex, the pharaohs arise to tell the story of their interesting lives, as haunting music mysteriously flows through this ancient city. Ancient and poetic voices tell the visitors about the birth of Karnak temple and the heroic achievements of the pharaohs and the god Amun. It is an enchanting and supernatural experience to listen to sound effects and gaze at the magnificent ruins illuminated during the well-presented show.

stunning experience to see this place at night. The commentary is a bit naff at times, but nonetheless the experience is great.

We thought this was a good experience after having spent hours on the site on the previous day with a guide. The atmosphere in the darkness with the lights is very diffrent. The narration is ok, but not great. In fact i dont think we would have enjoyed it as much had we not vosited the temple previously.

Tickets are a available at the door for 200 LE per person and taxis in luxor are easily hirable for entire evenings at a cheap price (as long as you negotiate). I cannot see why you would book this through an agency as there is not point in having a guide for this show

+ different atmosphere
+ the narration served as a summary for us of all the guided tours we had done before
+ its cooler in the night time
+ quite cheap

- a bit over the top / kitshy
- easy to git ripped off

I took my family of six to the sound and light show and almost immediately regretted it. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the narration was disjointed and sometimes difficult to understand and the lights were unimpressive. My kids (ages 6months to 10 years) were extremely bored. Most of the show is standing, including about 15 minutes of standing waiting for the show to start which can be very tiring after a day of touring temples. The Karnak temple is amazing, but go during the day, or if you don't have kids with you, enjoy the night viewing of the temple afforded by the sound and light show, just don't expect anything from the show itself.

Its a must see the event in Luxor, the show starts at 7.00 p.m with the English version( normally) and goes on with other languages, but it is really amazing and worth seeing this.

Sound was echoing. No use of lasers. Very difficult for the people with English as the second language.
