My wife and I have been incredibly fortunate to have traveled all over the world. The five days on the Princess Donia was one of the greatest trips that we have ever taken.
The boat itself was very comfortable and clean, and the food (I'm vegetarian, my wife isn't) was fantastic. The crew could not have been more friendly or helpful. Everyone of them helped contribute to this being one of my the most peaceful and tranquil vacations I've ever had.
The highlight of the trip was using the Nile as a means to explore ancient Egyptian history. Each day was like a new adventure with a guide who rivaled any we've ever had. Due to the decline in tourism (we're American - there's nothing to worried about), we often found ourselves as the only people in tombs and temples. Contrasted with what we had been told about the crowds in Egypt prior to the revolution, our experience felt like we had the country to ourselves. Before we boarded the boat, we found ourselves to be the only people inside the Great Pyramid.
I can not recommend this trip highly enough, or frankly Egypt enough. It's an incredible country with diverse experiences for the entire family.

We spent 5 nights cruising the Nile on the Princess Donia and had a fabulous time. The dahabaya is clean and comfortable, with ensuite bathrooms and hot showers. The 3 meals a day were delicious and served on deck very professionally. We also had an early morning tea tray and afternoon tea at 4 pm, and we were greeted with a refreshing drink on our return from sightseeing trips. Nothing was too much trouble for the crew; they were very patient and kind with our two small granddaughters. One night they entertained us with a feast and singing but our littlest one missed it by going to bed early, so they performed again the next night, just for her! Our guide Ismail was just great, knowledgeable and interesting. This is the way to see Egypt, pure luxury. Many thanks to Captain Hassan and the rest of the crew; we had a wonderful time and will go back again, Inshallah. We hope the new baby arrives safely too, Ismail.

We are a group of 2 families with 4 kids (10, 12, 15) spending 5 days on the Donia. Food was exceptional, staff was super friendly and always goes the extra miles. We enjoyed every single day on this boat and wished we could have stayed longer. It was a memorable journey up the Nile with the Donia. Everything was just perfect! Will surely recommend it to our friends. If you are planning to visit Egypt, this is the best way to travel!
My family and I spent the most wonderful week aboard the Princess Donia. The boat itself was charming, but the service from, and friendliness of the crew took the experience to another level. The trip was the perfect combination of sightseeing excursions and relaxing afternoons gently sailing up the Nile. The food on board was excellent. I would have no hesitation recommending this trip. Thank you Elaine, Captain Hasan and crew for such a wonderful week!

We recently stayed on the Princess Donia for 4 nights/5 days and could not speak highly enough of our experience. Captain Hassan and his crew were fantastic, so kind and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. They went out of their way to ensure our stay was perfect.
Everything from the tasty fresh cooked meals to the cleanliness of the cabins made our stay memorable.
Would highly recommend this boat to anyone wishing to cruise the Nile rather than one of the larger cruise ships. I guarantee your Egyptian experience will be heightened by cruising the Nile on this boat.
My wife and I along with our daughter completed a 5 day cruise booked through Oriental Tours on the sailboat ("dahabeeya") Princess Donia from Luxor to Aswan. The experience was fantastic! What a difference from the large cruise ships! We felt like royalty in comparison. The boat is large, clean and comfortable and ably managed by Captain Hassan and crew. The three meals a day were a continual delicious surprise -- one night featured a dinner on the shore in an idyllic setting by the Nile. In addition to the usual stops like Karnak, Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Philae we also we able to visit the temple of Horemheb which is not able to be accessed by the big cruise ships. This is the way to sail the Nile! One note to future guests, there is often a difficulty in getting your credit card payment to go through, we were a bit worried but after reading the reviews from other members that this is a common problem due to the card companies not automatically paying an account in Egypt and not the result of some scam, we felt a little more secure. Eventually we were able to get the payment through on a debit card. We're so glad we overcame this hurdle as this is not an experience that many tourists get. This cruise was the highlight of our two weeks in Egypt.
