“Great place to relax”

A great place to watch the world go by when the sun goes down or even in the middle of the day. Always feel fat when leaving.
The fritters are brilliant

“The best traditional egyptian restaurant on the West Bank.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2012

We travelled over to "Africa" for a traditional meal during our recent stay in Luxor. We were both so sorry to hear of the death of Mr. Ali after a long illness. Ali was Africa, his many tales and wonderful repartee livened up every visit. He was well acquainted with all the modern day archaeologists and had worked for many of them The family are now running the restaurant and making a fine job of it. Ali would be proud of them.
The food is basic but very tasty and always piping hot. Well worth the trip on the "workers ferry" which is an experience in itself, to eat good egyptian food. Being an open air restaurant and right on the main street it does get a bit dusty and noisy, but for me, thats Luxor at its simplest.

“My favourite on West Bank”

This was my regular eating place during my stay in Luxor. Good views and friendly service from a local family who also took me to Aswan. Recommended.

“AWFUL, DIRTY DISHES & DISGUSTING FOOD”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2012

The first thing that should have told us to go elsewhere was the smell off the table covers. As the waiter came quickly it would have been rude to have walked out. The food is Egyptian, which I just love normally as it is tasty and colourful - BUT NOT HERE.
Normally if a place is bad I just don't go there again but this place needs to clean up and do something with the food.
The crock dishes whilst traditional appeared to have the residue of many years of previous meals gripping the side inside and out of each dish. Absolutly sizzling hot however over cooked mush described the contents of each dish - Ugh - I still cringe at the memory
They sold Stella in big bottles that was okay - very expensive
We were mainly an Egyptian party and everyone was shocked at the high cost of the meal and poor quality
