A bit off the beaten track, on the way to the Valley of the Kings a little part of old England in the heart of Egypt. Interesting to see the house that Carter lived in. There is also a scale replica model of Tutankhamun tomb which is included in the admission price of 50 EYP in which you can take photos unlike the real tomb. Well worth the effort to visit.

I have always wanted to go to the house and had the chance with a wonderful travel agent called Jolley’s just down from the Winter palace. Fantastic array of photos. The 3d replica of Kings Tuts tombs is a really good idea.

Sat in Howard Carter's chair, sitting at his desk, wearing his hat...spooky!
Seriously though, it really is a fascinating look back into the past of 100 years ago.

It is full of Howard Cater's furniture. Sit at his desk, try out his fly whisk and hat! I read somewhere in my guide book that the cafe here is excellent but expensive - when was that? It is almost non-existant, cheap and awful when we visited. Do not miss the replica of King Tuts tomb...I missed it in 2017 but was very impressed in 2018.

The house looks like someone had just left for the day. Gives you a sense of how Howard Carter lived while he worked in the Valley of Kings. Well worth a look.
