One of the less visited sites about 30 mins drive South of Luxor. Our driver had some difficulty in finding the site, but perseverance won the day and the temple was found tucked away in the furterest reaches of the village of Tod (various spellings and pronunciations). Of the remains still visible there are some fine carvings, evidence of a sacred pool, birthing house, outdoor museum of carved stones and building materials and a nilometer. In its time the Temple of Montu at Tod was one of the largest temple sites in Egypt, the site covers a fair area and is surrounded by the local village which also once covered most ofthe site. A good visit, with not much hassle from the Temple Guardians. Facilities are available on site and there are a number of cafes situated in the new village.
