Wery peaceful place and much to see. Little difficult to find on your own, and tickets must be bought the same day in advance in the Luxor Temple ticket office. Big sicamore-tree alley is nice and unusual. Nice ruins of temple, remains of sacred lake and nilometer, procession way to Nile etc. Nice to get away from ordinary tourist routes. Visit if you´ve got time.

When we arrived we where the only people there it was truly amazing. Not only do you have the history but also on the drive in you can experience all the culture of the local village.
This temple really is worth the visit, the temple guardians where very respectful and did not hassle us as we got so used to in other sites.

Again, this is one of my favourite sites to visit; I have been here several times and still get a great sense of enjoyment each time.

It’s in the village of Tod about 20 miles south of Luxor. Please do remember that you have to purchase your tickets for this site at the Luxor Temple ticket office.

The site is in the middle of the village and is part surrounded by houses high up on the walls around the temple. You cannot imagine to visit such a place in this village, and when to arrive you will be impressed as to what is there. There is the temple with some very nice carvings, the Bark Shrine and a path walkway that leads to a further end part of the site. There are hundreds of very nice blocks and stonework with some fine carvings on them laid out on plinths for viewing. Definitely good for the camera. All in all, it’s a must to visit.

There is something about this site that is very pleasing, calm, a sense of tranquillity. This place is very worth adding to your list of have done.

The Temples of Montu

The Temple of Montu Is in the village of Tod. Over the doorway it has a sign saying ‘The Temple of Toud’!!

This site has a temple dating back to Dynasty V in the Old Kingdom. I have no training in Egyptology, or anything like that. I just enjoy taking photographs.

I have put a few shots on with this review. Please see more on http://community.webshots.com/user/elaref

Few people go there although it can be done and since the stopping of the convoys system it is easier. The only drawback is finding people to take you! You must buy the tickets from the Luxor Temple before you go.

The early morning sun during our visit picked out the engravings well as can be seen from my photos. If I say we were the only people there it is true assuming you ignore our guide, driver, the Policeman and about 10 wardens/hangers on!

The site is about 20km south of Luxor. Go South, out of Luxor on the road to Aswan. Turn off at the traffic station south of Luxor and cross the railway tracks. Stay on the road. You should pass, on the left, a very large modern building. I was told it was a Hostel. Follow the road to Tod and go right through the village.

The Temple lies at the end of the village It is on the left down, what looks like a small alleyway. You will see the entrance see first photo for view of gate. The temple is in a sunken area so not easily visible until you get inside.
