I have eaten at Sofra four times since being in Luxor for a month. I like the authentic decor and antiques, which you just don't get in other well-reviewed Luxor restaurants on tripadvisor. Even the napkins are nice! It is a relaxing oasis of calm away from the hussle and hassle of Luxor's streets. The waiters are charming and even though service can be slow, this is probably all part of the relaxed feel of the place. It is also much more reasonably priced than some of the restaurants catering for westerners. At first I thought 'this place would be perfect if it sold wine', but on second thoughts, it probably keeps the lager louts out, maintaining quite a sophisticated yet unpretentious ambience. It is well worth a visit, especially if you are open-minded about trying Egyptain cuisine....you won't find chips on the menu! Oh and they serve the best strawberry juice in town.

What a find! The most beautiful setting with wonderful authentic egyptian food. I'm fussy but couldn't fault my prawn dish with delicious rice. My husband thought the Kofta was the best he had all week. A lovely last supper in fantastic Egypt. Can't wait to return. Love from a very snowy northern ireland, oh to be back in the sun.

I went here a couple of days ago for lunch and it was pretty good. I ordered orange juice, mint tea, khiyar bil zabadi and their stuffed pigeon. Everything was good and tasty and the service was great. Ibrahim (I think the chef or one of the chefs) came out to check on everything and was very nice and professional. When I went (it was on a Friday afternoon), the place was empty so I can't say how the experience is when the restaurant is full of customers. All in all a good experience. I'm planning to return there to try another dish.

The layout of the restaurant is good too; it's set in an old Egyptian house. The terrace was nice to sit in. I'd definitely recommend Sofra to a friend or acquaintance. I hope they keep up the good work.

This was, by far, one of the nicest places we ate at in Egypt. We had to wait to get a table upstairs. Only thing is that they don't serve alcohol, or allow you to bring your own. We tried the homemade koshary, which was 10 times better than the street stuff. Portion sizes were small for Egypt, but perfect for us.

Sofra is the best attempt at decent food in Luxor outside a hotel. The ambience of the roof terrace is lovely - try and get a table there. The menu is varied with a large range of dishes and the option of sharing mezzo. The range of juices is god and all freshly squeezed. Been several times and would always recommend Sofra.
