We stayed three days in April 2019 (2 adults and a kid).
The landscape, the location and the Palace itself are outstanding : the result is an ambiance, an atmosphere that give you a very good feeling, the sail of the felouque in the silence of the sunset on the Nile is definitely a great spectacle...
To get a real worldclass experience, a few things need to be improve :
- the breakfast is OK but not at a Palace level both on food and service
- Some part of the garden need to be more clean (near the pool)More

Beautiful hotel
We stayed for 5 nights in May 2019. The hotel is stunning - the rooms feel opulent with huge bathrooms, an exceptionally comfortable bed & luxurious curtains that really block out the light. The view along the Nile is stunning.
However - it’s very much a hotel that runs on baksheesh. If you come out at 10am all of the loungers are reserved by guests paying to get a reserved lounger. The service in the restaurant was terrible until we tipped well & then the next day it was exceptionally quick. The room was quite poorly cleaned on the first day (we also got no water or coffee capsules)... once we’d tipped the next day it was spotless with lots of freebies. It really is a stay that is made better with tips!

Wonderful hotel for family holiday
This is the second time we have stayed in the Old Cataract and we thoroughly enjoy the experience. We have three children so have adjoining rooms. The rooms are huge and easily fit an extra bed. The staff do everything to make your stay memorable. The pools are great and nice to walk along the Nile and watch the boats go by.
The food is good quality with lots of choice.

What a disappointment!
This is an absolutely stunning hotel, with an amazing history, and beautifully restored. You will feel like you’re inside a 1930s Hollywood classic. Absolutely magic.

However, the service and food is worst than a cheap motel. The staff is sleeping or on their phone when we entered through the security, anything you need takes 3 or more conversations, and the food was NY prices for over cooked and tasteless meals. Go have a drink to see the place, but stay where service and food is worth the price.

By the way, our friends who stayed at the Sofitel in Luxor (former Winter Palace) had the same exact experience. It must be the Sofitel Egypt country manager. He must be replaced, so well travelled individuals can enjoy the beauty of those historical places adequately.

A PIECE OF HEAVEN!
This was my 4th visit to Aswan and my 3rd stay at the Sofitel Legend Old Cataract. Once again an amazing 4 night stay. Staff were as always professional, friendly and always willing to help make my stay as enjoyable and as comfortable as possible. The garden staff were only to eager to help guide you where you needed to be.

On my two previous stays at this hotel, I had booked a room in the "Old" (original) hotel. This time, I did the same, except on day 2, on a suggestion from a friend, I asked if I could move to a "Tower" (new hotel and just alongside the old hotel) suite. Management were only too pleased to oblige. The Tower rooms with their amazing views of the Nile and the surrounding desert were stunning.

If there is a place on earth where one can detach, this is certainly one of them. The patio restaurant overlooking the Nile is wonderful. The large pool, also overlooking the Nile, offers an opportunity to relax after a day of site seeing or to take in a "beverage" as the sun sets. I used the spa facilities - tranquil with professional staff. The gym was well appointed with machines and light weights. Just an amazing stay for me once again. Truly a piece of heaven.

My thanks to the entire staff - Ossama and Ahmed in management, the So Spa staff, Hussein and Sayed on the patio serving breakfast and lunch, to the room staff and laundry staff who did some laundry for me in 2.5 hours. I wish you all the best.

Second Visit
We were rather disappointed this time having stayed when hotel first reopened after refurbishment.
The staff were very nice but it was obvious there was a shortage of them. Nevertheless those working were very helpful
