We went on Friday morning and there was not a soul. Protestors get together on Friday afternoon. Fridays are the only time they can protest. I didn't know that until I got to Cairo, I was very happy because it is not to be missed. You definitely need a guide to explain all artifacts.

Wonderful guide called Abdel Nasser who was named after the great man by his father. Masses to see and he told us if you spend 1 minute in front of every artefact it would take you 34 years to see everything! Avoid Fridays as demonstrations take place nearby aftyer Friday prayers.

this museum is full of Egypts history and due the big amount of pieces to show they are already building a new musem close to Gyzah. for somebody liking the Egytian culture i would suggest three visits in three mornings in order to stay around 5 hours in each visit.

There are some amazing things to see in the museum, however, it seems like they are in the process of moving out of the city center to October 6 city. Still worth a look!

Having a guide really helped us to make the most of our visit. Our guide choose the most interesting exhibits to discuss. Their history and significance were fasinating and we would have missed so much without the help. There were so many exhibits you cannot observe them all in just one go and we would have been overwhelmed if we had gone on our own and tried to look at everything.
Take a bottle of water with you, it is warm and humid.
