One of the best travel experience you can do there is going inside the largest pyramid (Khufu), so make sure you do it!

We were a little reluctant to stop here on our way to Africa, but we are very glad we did. Part of our bucket list, we found the place to be safe! Take a guide/tour to assure you feel safe if this is a concern

The pyramids are even more amazing in real life! Wow! The camel ride is a little touristy but it makes perfect souvenir pictures!!

They are obviously a must do and no matter how many times you get a glimpse of them while driving through Cairo, nothing prepares you for their sheer scale when u see them up close. Sharing some tips from our experience:

1) Try reaching 8ish in the morning. However, if a photography enthusiast late afternoon-early evenings would give you surreal photographs. 2 hours should be good enough to do the complex.

2) Read about the pyramids before you go even if u intend to take a guide. Another option would be to see the light and sound show the previous evening. We just loved the show!!!

3) It is worth going inside the great pyramid of Khufu. U need a buy the ticket outside, so decide in advance. Avoid if claustrophobic or asthmatic. Good to go with a friend, take it slow and carry a small bottle of water. It’s a small, steep climb inside, however rails make it easier. Google some pictures before you decide to go inside, just to prepare you better for what’s coming. People told us it’s not worth and uncomfortable, but it’s worth experiencing since you came all the way.

4) You can choose not to take the Horse cart ride. Your driver can also pick you up from the other side, many touts would tell you otherwise. If you choose to take the horse, the government rates area displayed at the ticket counter. Baksheesh over that is fine, but don’t get duped for a higher rate.

5) There are touts, like any tourist place ...a sure NO always helps ..no body can take you for a ride unless u give them a chance…

6) Caps, water and sunscreen are the usual friends to keep in Egypt!! A paid and reasonable clean toilet at the ticket booth. Could not see any other inside.
