“Hagglers vs Pyramids”
Reviewed March 7, 2014

The pyramids of Giza are spectacular to behold. It is amazing to think how they were built, the tomb inside, the history associated with it however what ruins one's visit to such an amazing piece of history is the craziness of people wanting you to ride a camel or a donkey or a horse, if you take a photo and someone local appears to be in the photo money is demanded of you. If someone leads you into the pyramid which you have paid already to view payment is expected yet again, people will haggle you to buy a souvenir and will persist. There is no chance you can simply walk around the pyramid in peace or visit inside the pyramid to take it all in peace. The Egyptian Govt really needs to crack down on the number of hagglers entering the pyramid site so tourists are welcomed to visit and enjoy the site.

Well worth the visit. Flew over for the day from sharm much quicker. We purchased tickets to also enter inside the pyramid, definitely worth it but if your don't like small spaces the walk up to it inside is very low and narrow. We were told on the bus to leave our camera behind and that we wouldn't be able to use it inside the pyramid, but when we got inside the man was allowing people to take photos for for Egyptian pound which I wish we had known. Ignore the hasslers and take your camera inside!

“Absolutely Amazing!”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

My daughter I have have just got back from our holiday to Sharm el Sheikh, whilst there we took the opportunity to visit Cairo. With all the reviews & recent troubles I was apprehensive about taking the trip but researched well & booked our excursion with Always Egypt. That the the BEST thing I did- talk about 1st class door to door service & our guide "Absolutely Amazing" not only did he keep the hassles at bay for us he did the haggling for any souvenirs we wanted to buy & as he was an Egyptologist he spent the whole 12 hours of our day trip teaching about both the history of Egypt & the pyramids & also the current way of life during our walking tour of Cairo. I can see how the place could feel intimidating but With the right guide like we had you can feel perfectly safe and at ease there & enjoy the "Amazing sites, City & people of Cairo". I am so glad I took the tour as it was most definitely the "BEST DAY" of my holiday :-))

We recently went to the pyramids, and they were worth it, We booked the trip through our holiday rep, Paid £50 for a day that included tours to several different sites and included lunch. There was a lot of people including children trying to sell you post cards, ornaments etc.... but they did take no for an answer and only one kept trying, but our guide got rid of him for us. Never be afraid to ask your guide for help, they will step in. We were offered camel rides for £15 (150 Egyptian pounds). Problem here is they rely on tourism and it has been done by 40% since 2011, so they are all hassling a few tourists. We went at 9 am so we may have avoided a lot of the sellers by going early. The pyramids were outstanding, and I don't think anything prepares you for their size, and the size of the blocks used to build them. We wanted to see the light show but it wasn't on because Pele was in town, (bit annoyed but not the end of the world).
