Thankfully I came here on a public holiday in June, so It wasn't congested at all.

Loved my trip here which was provided by Sharm Happy Tours. Was able to climb part way inside of a pyramid and also climb a pyramid, also we saw the sphinx which had been a childhood ambition of mine and ride a camel outside one of the pyramids.

A must do for anyone!

I'm sure my words are inadequate to describe the feeling you will have when you get to the Pyramids. You actually can see them from parts of Cairo, but when you are up close, they take your breathe away. Do be prepared to be overwhelmed with piles of garbage lining the road into Giza. I mean, more garbage than you can imagine in your worst nightmare.

There is 23 Million people living in the Cairo/Giza area, and the garbage, refuse is out of controller. You also will have to literally beat off the beggars, vendors, and pick pockets.

This being said, I would and will go back again. These monuments are that great. Take lots of time, a REAL camera if you have one, wear cool clothes, and good shoes. Look past the squalor, and think of the history you are trading upon.

Liked - The pyramids and the sphinx were everything I had dreamed of as a boy. The sphinx was smaller and the pyramids larger than expected. A carriage driver who helped us with photos, some knowledge and transport.
Dislike - the usual touts were crawling all over the entrance and well before. BIG NOTE - if you are coming by taxi men will chase down/jump infront of the taxi and tell you that you can't get to the pyramids by car. That you need to take a donkey/camel/carriage. This is utter BS, they are just trying to deceive you (as usual) have a map or a GPS app on your phone and you'll get there no worries. Or take a guided tour.
Entrance into the large pyramid was okay but a bit plain. Tunnels and chamber walls were completely blank and plain, but just being in a pyramid was cool!

Always remember that no matter how slight a gesture may be, opening a door, taking a photo, showing a painting etc etc, a tip or charge is always applicable. If you know this and constantly ask how much? you will be fine. If they say (which they very much like to) "no problem, no problem here let me take picture" for example, just say "oh excellent Free". Then a conversation may commence

The pyramids are a good experience, having a noce horse ride in the sun beating down.... visit inside the pyramid is a bit tiring but a good work out for you to enjoy the shish kababs in the lunch.
