“Ok location, average room”
Reviewed June 1, 2009

We stayed here for 2 nights as the starting point as a part of a tour. As such, we did not have to check in (our guide did it for us). The staff that we did encounter were friendly and mostly helpful.

The hotel room was average. 2 single beds, small table and 2 chairs, mini fridge, tv etc. Not a whole lot of room, but enough for us. The bathroom was a good size although a little dodgy with the mould we saw in the sink. We had a window with a view to a concrete wall next door, and some pigeons who perched on the air con units outside. Unfortunately the window didn't close and lock so we were a little nervous for our first night in Egypt (not of the pigeons!). The lift button didn't work on the floor we were on (5th from memory), so we went to the 4th to call it instead.. that was after we had been walking up and down the staircase a few times, assuming the lifts were out completely! Oh well, good exercise for us.

The call to prayer woke us up at 4:30am but we were expecting it, and it was something we had to get used to anyway. Location was pretty good - fairly close to the pyramids, and I think it was good not to be in the middle of Cairo for our intro to the city.

We had a bad experience with the hotel restaurant upstairs. We wanted to have some dinner and the single staff member serving there really did not want to serve us (we were the only people there). His attitude was quite poor, however the staff in the cafe downstairs were very nice and friendly.

Overall, I would say that the hotel is ok for a short stay.

We had a great time here. The staff was wonderful. We arrived at 5 AM and they allowed us to check in early at no charge. The breakfast was full and varied. Ahmed arranged tours and a driver for us each day at a great price. Location was fine. Ask for a room at the back to cut down on street noise. We had a great time. Other then rooms could use a little sprucing up, we enjoyed it alot.

We arrived at the hotel to e greeted by friendly staff and a lovely surprise - a free upgrade to their pyramid view suite. After a long journey, the refreshing complimentary drink accompanied by the gorgeous room was just bliss. Clean and tidy, the only problem I had was lack of storage space so I was unable t empty the whole of my luggage. The hotel itself is lovely and fits 4 star rating, although breakfast was disappointing. No fruit was ever served, not even the juice was fresh, just diluted. No brown bread, nothing healthy but those who like eggs frankfurters and pastries, you will be satisfied with their buffet. I was thoroughy disappointed with housekeeping as it was a daily struggle to get our room cleaned and fresh towels supplied. Despite putting up the 'please clean our room' sign on the door knob, I would still have to call up everyday after finding the room as we had left it when we came home in the evening. The hotel is close to local restaurants,30 mins by cab to pyramids, 15mins to sound&light show and 20mins to Cairo zoo. I loved the location as it was so easy to hail a cab. Surroundings was a tad noisy but otherwise this hotel was very much to my satisfaction

I booked this hotel because its location, but i made a mistake. Unless you're a muslim you wont feel comfortable around the area this hotel is located at. It's a short taxi ride to the pyramids, but you can easily make that ride from downtown Cairo, it's only about 10 kilometers.
The hotel staff is very friendly and courteous but the hotel itself is lousy. Bed sheets were dirty, the fridge was not clean and the room was cold. I wouldn't recommend this hotel even if you were on a very short budget.

Spent two nights at this hotel as part of a tour. The first night I couldn't sleep at all because of the really loud traffic noise from the busy street out the front.

The staff were friendly and arranged for me to move rooms when I asked for a quieter room at the back of the hotel - though on this side I could hear the mosque but that was not really a problem as there is not noise all night from the traffic at the back of the hotel.

The rooms were both a bit shabby and the sheets were not clean on either bed in the second room that I had. The carpet was not vacummed, the fridge was dirty and the bathroom was not particularly clean either. I'm not sure how much the tour organisers paid for the hotel but it is an ok option if if it were budget (which I don't think it was).

Breakfast was very ordinary and all of the common areas of the hotel (e.g. restaurant, terrace bar, breakfast room) were a bit shabby. The whole hotel could have used a thoroughly good clean.

The rooftop bar was nice enough, though dusty, and had a good view to the Pyramids. also, there is a big supermarket nearby and a decent cheap restaurant on the main road heading away from the Pyramids.

  • Liked — It was a place to sleep and shower
  • Disliked — It was noisy at the front and it wasn't very clean

In a good location close to the pyramids (good view from the rooftop terrace).
Room small but adequate & comfortable. Breakfast decent & plentiful.
Only drawback was lack of decent restaurants within walking distance.
Staff friendly & helpful.

The first room that we were given had 2 single beds, after booking a double room. There was also a number of pieces of broken glass embedded in the carpet. The aircon was very loud and ineffective. There was a fridge in the room however it froze what ever you put into it as well as being very dirty. The rooms and hotel in general were quite dirty, it would probably be lucky to get 2 stars in Australia.

Breakfast was plentiful however due to the dirtiness of the room and utensils we were very hesitant to eat the food. By the time we left the hotel (4 nights) both my husband and myself had a tummy bug.

Good location to the pyramids, about a 30 minute walk.

Please beware of extra charges to the bill on check out. We were charged an extra 2% for all charges to the room when we went to check out (after already paying an extra 21%). We were told this was a standard government charge, however in almost all instances it was more than 2%. Make sure you keep a diary of all charges to your room. We left the hotel 3 nights early and so far the hotel has not been helpful in our efforts to get any reimbursement.
