Khafre is the second pyramid in order of magnitude. Not enough to say that it is an engineering marvel. How did they build it in old days!!!. A must see!

To say that Khafre's pyramid is less impressive than Cheops is somewhat misleading. It is, but if it stood alone, in another country, it would be their pride and joy. It is just that in this setting, where one is spoilt for choice, and where the senses are dulled by the excess of history and grandeur, it is trumped (slightly) by Cheops. But certainly, certainly, worth a visit.

This Pyramid looks taller than his father's (Cheops) because he chose to build it on a higher ground and still obey the dictum of not making it taller than Cheops. Because of the higher ground, it still retains the smooth cladding at the top.

Well worth visiting early in the morning before the tour groups arrive. We got there at 9 am, which was perfect.
