“Clean but dated decor and rude staff”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2012

We stayed at The Oasis Hotel on Friday 29 September 2012 and fortunately it was only for 1 night. The hotel facilities are excellent - great pool, lovely well tended gardens, heath club, kids playground etc - but the rooms were very old fashioned and tired; although it's fair to say they were spotlessly clean.
The worst part was the service. First we were completely ignored in the pool bar until my wife got up and went to ask if we might possibly have a drink. Then we decided to have a meal. The food was excellent but our started, a single plate of Hummous to share took nearly an hour to arrive and our main almost another hour. The staff were surly and we got the impression they would have preferred us not to interrupt their evening.
Staff at breakfast were not much more helpful giving us a dirty look because we had dared to ask for coffee.
I can certainly see where this hotel has won awards but that was nearly 20 years ago and it shows. I would not stay there again.

Room Tip: Don't stay in one of the "bungalow" style rooms but opt if you can for a room in the m...

We only stayed 1 night at this hotel as part of our trip. It was a nice hotel, rooms were clean, food was good, close to the pyramids (15min drive), 50min from airport. Staff was friendly and unlike other reviews; we didn't have to wait long at all! The pool closes early (sunset, but that's everywhere in Egypt (at least all the places we've been to).

The airport is on the other side of Cairo about a 45 min drive , the traffic in Cairo has to be seen to be believed. Very comfortable hotel , nice swimming pool , Rooms clean & comfortable . The food was good. It is a bit out of the way particulary from the city centre. One of the better hotels I stayed in during my stay in Egypt. Would stay here again.

We stayed there for 2 nights and it was alright! Our bedroom was not so clean and comfy though. The furnitures was a bit old, the shower didn't work properly and it was so noisyyy!!!!
However, it was still a decent hotel, with nice swimming pool area and relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant service was bad though and it took ages for our food and drinks. (we asked alcohol drinks -mojitos- and they were disgusting).
The breakfast was average.

Room Tip: Don't order cocktails in the restaurant near the swimming pool. It's disgusting!

First timers to Egypt, we thought the hotel accommodation overall was average.
Room was clean, grounds dull and pool refreshing.

The main dissapointing aspect of this was the complete lack of service from the pool waiting staff. No less than 3 times were we waiting for lunch for close to an hour, and drinks sometimes 40 minutes. We were there during Ramadan so I don't know if this was to blame or not.

The pool closes at 6 pm and this was a bummer because having spent the day out in the heat, sometimes an evening swim was exactly what we were looking forward to.

I didn't feel comfortable with my massage, perhaps if you are a female, insist on a female massuse.

Breakfast was like all Egyptian holes, heaps of bread, juice etc. this was quite yummy.

Overall the staff were just pleasant.

Location was ok, took 25 minutes on a Friday ( which is equal to westerners Saturday) to get from the airport to hotel, and then mid week took 1 hour 40 minutes due to traffic. Highly recommend you arrange a transfer rather than taxi.Pyramids were approx 20 mins away. The was nothing to do within walking distance and the Customer Relations officer warns us about going for a walk.

While the review isn't the greatest, it's what we encountered in all Egyptian Hotels as pretty much standard.

Hotel is located in the road from Cairo to Alex, not too far from city center. It is located just beside pyramids and old Giza. I stayed there for 1 night, which was overall not bad.
Pros:
- Location is very good
- Green areas are everywhere in that hotel, peace of mind and relaxation
- Pool is very big and clean and really nice
- Breakfast buffet was adequate, and has variety and tasty
- Parking is free
- most of staff are welcoming with nice smile
- good kids area

Cons:
- Service is very bad, mainly room service. People are rude, and challenge you if you asked them for any thing. Even, when I asked for a boiled water for my kid, they told me that they already brought me water from sometime, thus we won't bring you water !!!!
- House keeping are not up to expectations as well, I've asked towels and pillows, they brought them only after 3 calls, and even not the same number I've asked for (I've asked for 3 towels, and they brought 1 big towel and 1 small towel)
- A/C was very strange, it is sometimes not working well, and other times very cold. even I've not changed the temperature settings. I didn't report that, so it is not considered a real con.

Overall, it is not cheap hotel and thus I expect more value for money. The staff of room service and house keeping need to be trained more to be able to deal with guests in a better way.

I recommend going there for all the facilities, but be ready to to spend sometime to get your stuff done.

We did Cairo when the troubles were going on, but felt safe here. Much better as it is out from the city. Nice pool to come back to after sightseeing and we ate at the poolside restaurant too. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast buffet was good but a bit hectic as everyone stays ther with one purpose in mind, to visit the pyramids and everyone eats at the same time ready to go out.
The rooms are chalets set out in a pleasant garden setting, we had two double beds in ours so the rooms are quite large. They were clean and comfortable.
I would definitely recomend this hotel for a stay in Cairo, it is someway from the airport but we had arranged transport and a guide for a day when we did the museum and the pyramids.
