We enjoyed the gardens at the hotel and its proximity to the Pyramids. It’s worth it to select a room with a view. We are also grateful for the hotel’s concierge, the executive lounge, and Misr Travel for arranging our tours. Our guide, Abu Baker, and our driver, Mohammad, were excellent! Thank you as well to Mai for assisting us. Highly recommend including this hotel and activities in a visit to Cairo/Giza, Egypt.

We stayed here for New Years and there is something magical about New Years overlooking the Pyramids. New Years delivered- we had a blast with outstanding food and entertainment. The rooms are sacious and clean, as is the extensive grounds of the property. We enjoyed both the Indian and Italian restaurants. Breakfast is average, but there is a large buffet selection (average because of a single omlet station chef, which made for long lines). The grounds are also quiet for a nice walk, as we live in Cairo this quiet area was very relaxing and reinvigorating. We used the heated pool, which was also fun.

The single star off is for check-in chaos and sketchy security practices- specifically, we had two rooms, but one wasn't ready, so we called down later and had the key delivered: There was still a family staying there. As a frequest travelet, I always knock on a hotel room door, but having someone answer when I have a key to their room is disturbing (for both of us). This stuff shouldn't happen in a Marriott caliber hotel.

The hotel has an incredible view and the room is good. Do not even consider staying here if it is a Thursday or a Friday night because it will be a wedding venue nightmare that will disrupt everything. The temporary lobby is always crowded with luggage and a bunch of people on group tours is basically chaos. The welcome refreshments are not replenishes often.

While the staff was always nice and willing to help the lack of information is crazy. The front desk, guest services, bell services not one person could tell us what time the pyramids opened the next morning! Everyone was unsure. They count on the travel agency onsite but if they are gone then forget about getting information.

The next day after we came from touring we came to chaos. We tried to eat dinner but it was loud because they were putting together stuff for the wedding the next day. The lights made it impossible to even see the pyramids in the back. The next day things got only worst there was 4 weddings going on and it was loud and extremely crowded with people everywhere on the grounds. The cars were everywhere and we had to wait a long time to be able to get a golf cart to take our luggage and us to the front for us to get to our transport. The golf carts were being used to transport wedding guest to the bathroom from the different locations. The hotel guest seem to become an afterthought while the weddings are going on. We were told by the staff that is like this for them every weekend I would avoid staying here from Thursday (set up), Friday and Saturday.

We stayed here for several nights on our tour of Egypt. The historic property has been extensively modernized as part of the Marriott chain. It is within sight of the pyramids, but is in a secure garden setting. The 3 restaurants are all quite good. The staff (with the exception of one grumpy person on the front desk) was friendly, professional, welcoming to us as U.S. citizens, and one of the big pluses of our first trip to Cairo. I definitely would stay here again.

Room tip: Ask for a pyramid view room.
