Back then I missed filling a review on the Hotel we stayed in Cairo, Egypt. This was the Mena House hotel very close at a walking distance to the Pyramids. YThe personnel was bilingual, the rooms were very clean and nice, each room had a different style.
Notwitstanding the International cuisine, you could have lunch and dinner on the porch of the hotel and by the same token inside with air-conditioner on. You could also explore at breakfast time a plate of FOUL Medamis together with Oive oil. They are also specialized in Lebanese food and sweets. I would recommend this hotel if you are justpassing by Cairo and want to have a glance of the Pyramids. Tickets are also available for Som et Lumiere. All rooms are Air
Conditioned. We pretend next year to stay again.

Room Tip: All rooms have a front end and and a side end. I would suggest the upper floors which are more sile...

We stayed at the Mena three times during our recent trip to Egypt as part of a tour package with Eldertreks. As others have indicated, the Mena is a superior hotel. That means the breakfast buffet is top notch; the rooms are well appointed (although why the ridiculous cost for WiFi is beyond me); the service is excellent from the doorman to the cleaning staff; and, if - and that is a big if - the smog lifts, you can actually see the pyramids from those rooms facing the Giza Plateau.

As a caution, the Mena seems to be under renovation. So as you walk through the garden from the new wing to the main older building, be prepared for a huge hoarding with a picture of what supposedly is underneath. Not a big deal and we noticed no work taking place.

Our only problem with the Mena was how cheap superior hotels can be. We arrived in October and left in November. What we discovered was basically a totally empty hotel (a situation we discovered throughout our trip at all our other hotels). When we were allotted our room we noticed it was a pool/garden view (which means at the back of the new wing not facing the pyramids). Since the hotel was empty we thought they would not have any problem in allotting exactly the same room but right across the corridor which - if the smog permitted - would have a pyramid view that everyone writes about. But were we ever wrong! If we wanted that room there would be a $50 USA surcharge, even though the place was literally EMPTY. Simply amazing in a country desperately in need of tourists. What was even more offensive was that on our third return to the Mena we were automatically assigned the coveted pyramid view room (at no extra charge) - but not exactly to our benefit since we checked in very late and left for the airport early.

It remains a mystery why a first class hotel such as the Mena was not able to put us up in a pyramid view room - an identical room from the garden view rooms - since there was absolutely no cost to them whatsoever. Fortunately this was not the situation in the other excellent hotels in which we stayed during our trip.

Live like a Pharaoh, this hotel provided me the greatest Resort Landscape, the stay and the food, everything was delightful, and their staff is quite amazing, and their matchbox still reminds of how good the stay was, It was my Sister's wedding there. The Banquet's and their organizing was AWESOME !. It was my first stay at this hotel, and I'd die to go there again, the bar is absolute lovely with their refreshing drinks and cocktails, and everyone there loves to talk and give you a wonderful smile, the smell of the hotel is amazing too, and of course the view, you just love the pyramids don't you ?, I've enjoyed my stay.
I have one tiny comment about Maintenance Issue, its sadly poor, just fix these tiny issues and you'll be rocking than ever.

THANKS MENA HOUSE TEAM.

This hotel is absolutely stunning. Beautiful grounds around the hotel and amazing views of the pyramids. This hotel is the closest to the pyramids and the pyramid view rooms are a must. We stayed in the new wing and had a chance to visit the old wing as well which has even better views of the pyramids. Definitely will return here if we get the chance.

The historic section of this 'estate' recalls what a sultan must have experienced--spacious and indulgent. Worth the investment although very expensive and subject to the very loud, amplified 'call to prayer.' While staying in the 'new' section however, it's just as lovely, by today's standards. Our room overlooked the Great Pyramid, was extremely comfortable, the food was excellent, bountiful and tasty, especially the breakfasts, and the grounds were beautifully laid out with reflecting and swimming pools.

The restaurant and the lobby are like stepping back in time into an ornate palace fit for a sultan. The rooms are spacious and extremely clean and the staff are wonderfully helpful - to the extent that they will readily give you a ride across the grounds in a golf cart if they see you walking through the meticulously cared-for green spaces. We were not in the most elite rooms offered, and yet opening the curtains on our balcony revealed a stunning view of the pyramids directly in front of our hotel. You can't beat the location, and by choosing location you do not give up any amenities offered by those hotel options farther away.

Looking at a lot of the pictures people have posted here I can see a building in front of the pyramids - that's the old wing. I asked for a pyramid view when I booked my room, but they put me in the new wing where you can see the pyramids through some trees if you lean over your balcony. I asked to move to the old wing and it was exactly what I wanted.

The TV and furniture are older than in the new wing, but you go to sleep looking at the pyramids right outside your window. Also, it's closer to the restaurant and lobby.

Having my morning coffee on the balcony as the sun rises and light up the pyramids is something I'll never forget. The food in the restaurant was excellent (they even made Eggs Benedict for me) and you can see the pyramids from your table.

Generally the service was good, but it could be improved a little.

Room Tip: Stay in the old wing (room 1106?).
