This is a beautiful, elegant hotel, teeming with history and legend. Right at the foot of the famous pyramids, it is where international peace conferences are held and diplomats stay. The service is good, the food is good, and the grounds and pool are are beautiful. The one negative would be the outrageous charge for internet access. In this day and age there is little excuse for that.

Room Tip: try to take the tour of the hotel in the evening to see the suites where Churchill and General Montg...

Mena House has a completely different feel to the first Hotel I stayed at (Fairmont)- in that the newer block is situated a small walk away from the Main Lobby.
My first impression, therefore, was to feel quite separate and less contained than one normally feels in a Hotel.
If you were travelling alone, this may feel too isolating for one....

The positives of this, however, are that there is a sense of Space and a big area to walk and explore.

My room was extremely spacious and perfectly clean- I was very happy with the feel of it- light-filled, modern and well- equipped.
Firm, comfortable bed. (this is always NB for me!)

On arrival, I found 3 oranges and 2 luxury chocolates- which were a very nice touch. I really enjoyed them- small things that actually add to the whole experience.

I stayed in room 462, which had a view of 2 pyramids from the balcony.

My most favourite thing about Mena House? THE POOL!
Oh, the pool was sensational. It was the perfect temperature, and many of my group of friends chose to spend an entire day relaxing next to it or in it.

I would stay there again, purely for the pool ambience.

We ate at the poolside and the quality was excellent and the portions most generous.
We also ate at the bar inside the Hotel and the tasty snacks were accompanied by a fantastic Trio of Musicians.
They created a great atmosphere and we appreciated them.

There is a 24 bank for you to change currencies or break bigger notes into smaller (very helpful).

Lastly, on our last night we attended a Farewell dinner in one of the most opulent and unforgettable rooms I have eaten in- an impressive variety of food was served at all times I found the staff to be helpful and professional.

(For those of you that rely on your internet connection- you need to know that it is currently 70 egyptian pounds per hour! Better to stay dis-connected if you can ;-)

Stayed at this hotel a few times .. Service is good but a few different kinds of rooms involving quality and newer styles. Just stayed here .. Hotel just been dropped by oberoi . Service staff are still the same and good. Hotel concentrates too much on groups and disregards the regular traveller. Rooms are clean and efficient but some need an update .. For the price I would stay elsewhere

What could be better than to relax with a G and T watching the sun go down over the pyramids. Lovely hotel, attentive staff, a highly reccomended oasis away from the hustle and bustle of everyday Egypt.

My sister gave me a Long Week-end in Cairo with my husband as a gift. I had already been to Egpyt on three other occassions, but this was my husbands first trip and he really enjoyed every minute. The Hotel was fantastic, the food was wonderful, the rooms luxurious. To be so close to the Pyramids was an extra bonus

Normally I don't post but am compelled to convey what a wonderful hotel stay we had last Spring Break at the Mena House. My husband and I traveled with our 7 year old and had the trip of our life in Egypt. We started the trip with a stay at the Mena House and it could not have been more superb. The staff, room and amenities were all excellent. When you stay at this hotel you are situated right next to the pyramids. The view could not be better. After traveling from the US we found the state of the art outdoor pool a fabulous place for our son to expend his energy. The staff and management treated us like royalty. We love this hotel!

Please don't hesitate to visit this one of a kind hotel. It is rich in history and has an incredible location that can not be missed.

We stayed in the Church Hill Suite -- which is actually a huge apartment within the hotel overlooking the Giza Pyramids. To say the rooms were grand would not do it justice, a bit dated here and there, but the old world charm in my mind trumps madly. The staff is the best I have experienced everywhere, engaging, funny, warm and extremely helpful. The newer section of the hotel is nice, closer to the pool, but for me staying in the historical part is the only way to go. We stayed a week and only left the property for our tours and spent the rest of the time enjoying the bar lounge and restaurants all of them outstanding. One of our favorites was having breakfast each morning on our deck overlooking the Giza Pyramids. An experience that cannot be missed......

Room Tip: Splurge and book the rooms with a pyramid view -- nothing better than waking up and seeing this anci...
