“An experience not to be missed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2013

I could not have wished for a more wonderful way to have started our Egyptian holiday. From the moment we were picked up at the airport the Mena House staff were nothing short of excellent.
From the garden workers to the service staff all were just so welcoming and the concierge went out of his way to sort out a sim for my husbands mobile phone.
We were upgraded to the Winston Churchill suite with all its rooms, grandeur and enormous balcony overlooking the pyramids. It was an amazing experience to look out from the rooms to see the pyramids. The buffet breakfast was one of the best I have experienced. The gardens, restaurants, pool all provide a welcome refuge from the chaos outside. The hotel has atmosphere, a wonderful history, incredible position, great service and facilities. The only improvements I could suggest would be free WiFi (why one still has to pay at upmarket hotels I do not know) and greater access hours to the gym.
We were the last of the guests under the Oberoi management having stayed for 3 nights and leaving on 1st Jan 2013. I hope that the Egyptian government will continue to provide the same quality of service.

Service was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble. I needed a doctor and one was with me within an hour and the staff went and got my prescription. We had flowers and cake every day of our stay-for birthday, out honeymoon and simply to get well. All with personal notes. When lying on our bed we could see the pyramids (in our upgraded suite). Best of all was the restaurant on site. The best Indian restaurant mh new husband has ever had

Wonderful hotel, luxurious, historic. Staff are welcoming and couldnt be more helpful, and you can sit quietly in the garden with fantastic views over the Great Pyramid, so you can really get a feel for the place without setting foot onto an Egyptian street. The pyramid site is a short walk away. Couldnt ask for a better hotel!! The toilets smell of lotus oil!!!

Room Tip: For a more historic feel, but no doubt more expensive ask to stay in the old part of the hotel

This hotel is a wonderful choice for those who are interested in local history. The detail around the hotel - in furnishings, historical information - is amazing. The restaurant is also pleasant. The bar is a great place to have a drink in and to enjoy the surroundings. The rooms are lovely and have great views of the pyramids - almost like something out of a dream. Wow, just wow!

Wow. This is a very special hotel. From the moment you enter you know you are somewhere amazing. Stunning lobby and reception rooms. A former hunting lodge for the royals converted to a hotel. The location is at a stones throw to the pyramids. Original furniture and fixtures of museum quality. The staff can not do enough to welcome you and make you feel like a VIP. Fabulous restaurant. Just magical and nothing quite like this place. Out of this world.

i love the pool! i love the breakfast buffet and i love the idea of sleeping and waking up with the pyramids staring right at you, not to mention we had breakfast looking at the pyramids! the staff are great, but expect to give tips. will definitely go back to mean hotel on our next trip to egypt. its far from the chaotic city so you can have your well deserved R&R.

It was a wonderful stay , pro's ; very friendly staff , very helpful too. Excellent view & location , u can see the pyramids day & night. Its a 2 mins walk but don't get a horse ride or bargain before crossing the gates they're not trustworthy. The hotel is a greaaat garden & a nice palace from the old fine days filled with places to have photos in.
Con's ; its a children unfriendly hotel , no kids corner , no animation , nothing ! Another thing is that its tooo quite at evenings, they don't have any activities, outdoor cafe, shisha....etc.
The breakfast buffet was not that expected for a 5 star hotel but ut was overcomed by the friendly & helpful staff.
