“Very spacious and well designed property with attentive & friendly service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2009

The hotel has a very nice resort atmosphere with a wonderful pool & golf course. While located out of town (which you know when booked), it is closer to the pyramids than hotels in downtown are. The rooms are well-kept and have been recently refurbished. The rooms are also larger than we expected. The restaurant serves excellent buffet breakfasts & dinners, allowing guests to sample Egyptian cuisine in addition to having several "standard" food options for the less adventurous palates. Lastly, the service was great with the staff being extremely friendly & helpful to any of our needs.

My partner and I spent several nights here and were overwhelmed with the level of customer service that we received. Upon arrive we were greated many times by staff with (seemingly) genuine smiles. We felt incredibly welcome. Concierge was very helpful, learned our names and greeted us everytime we entered the lobby.

The room we had was very large and overlooked the golf course. Although it was large in size, it did need to be updated. Overall, the suite had two older televisions, great english language television selections, a large bathroom with seperate shower and jacuzzi tub, and a beautiful walk in closet. Be sure to enjoy your view on the balcony.

Our Breakfast was included in our nightly rate and we were satisfied with the options. It seems that they serve a buffett that can appeal to many different folks, Middle Eastern, European and American/Canadian. You'll be able to get omelletes, waffles and pancakes (with syrup), but remember...no pork!

One disadvantage of this particular hotel is its distance from center city, but we enjoyed being out of the hustle and bustle of the city, liked playing golf, and found the shuttle bus to the city very helpful. They offer a shuttle bus twice a day to the other Hilton property in Cairo for 15 GBP/person/oneway. Although not always on-time due to Cairo traffic, it certainly is cheaper than a taxi in. Keep in mind though, taxis are not going to break the bank in Cairo!

Quick Tips:
Don't be intimidated by the bomb check-point when you approach the entrace of the hotel. All cars are checked and it seems to be standard for hotels in Cairo.

Expect to pay at least 80EGP from the airport for a taxi. The hotel does have car service, but it seems very very expensive.

When you are in the city, take some time to visit a grocery store to pick up drinks/water/snacks. This hotel is very isolated and your food options are limited to so-so restaurants. Check out the bar for a less expensive (but just as satisfying) dinner menu. The bartenders are very fun and friendly.

Keep plenty of small cash for tips. Tips are accepted and expected for everything. This seems pretty standard in Cairo.

The tours that the hotel offers are incredibly overpriced. If you are interested in taking a tour, arrange something in advance over email. The concierge WILL NOT contact other tour companies for you.

Bug spray is a necessity. Put some on even in your hotel room and when you are out and about on the property.

This hotel has amazing rooms, the old building has amazingly big rooms, with a lot of space (ask for the big ones as they are not all the same) and the new building has very beautiful rooms, with nice space as well, super nice view on the golf area, and very nice jacuzzi in the bathrooms. The food is really good as usual in a Hilton hotel, and the people are really nice.

If you're planning a trip to Egypt and you are loyal to Hilton - go to the Ramses or the Nile - avoid this hotel at all cost. (And actually, there isn't any real cost associated with avoidance - room rates here are the same as a Nile front room in one of the other two Hilton properties.) As other travelers have stated, the hotel, in spite of the appearance of the pyramids on their website, is in the middle of nowhere. The drive to Cairo on the bus is a nightmare (it's used for locals to get to and from work, we were the only tourists using the service) limo service is more expensive than from downtown Cairo. The food is all buffet-style. We ate in the bar one evening as they had pizza and wings rather than face a second evening of mediocre food on a DIRTY tablecloth. The service did not live up to any other hotel we stayed in (and there were three others, the Hilton resort in Luxor is absolutely wonderful.) We booked this rather last minute, online and didn't do enough research - the place really needs to be a lesser chain - at a lesser price.

My family traveled with a tour group to Egypt and we were arranged to stay at this hotel for two nights at the end of the trip. The location is inconvenient and the shuttle schedule was terrible. Service at breakfast was inadequate and we had to wait 15 minutes for coffee/tea to be brought to our table. The hotel messed up the room assignment so we ended up with one room that was intended for someone else and no accommodation for a third occupant in the other room. All in all, staying at this hotel ruined the end of the trip.

I was there for a conference.

The pros:
Rooms are large. You will recognize the Hilton atmosphere.
The golf field seems to be nice (if you play golf, of course!)

The cons
There is no absolutly life around. You should not choose this hotel if you want to visit Cairo (remimber, the traffic in Cairo is a nightmare).
The atmosphere in the restaurant and the bar is very poor.
