Very elegant hotel with a beautiful welcoming ambiance.

The staff are exceptionally nice and helpful nothing is too much trouble for them - its 5* service with a smile every time!

We had arranged with the hotel for a car to collect us at airport and found our driver waiting outside arrivals with a big smile ( Sorry forgot his name). He was very polite, spoke good english, took our bags and lead us to car. Drive took about an hour from airport but passed very quickly due to our driver telling us about Cairo and its sites.

Arrived at hotel all staff are most welcoming and polite. We checked-in for 4 nights stay. Our room was on 11th floor. The hotel is on the busy road to the Pyramids but do not let that deter you staying here. Our room was road facing and we could slightly hear the honking cars but it did not disturb us! Our room was perfect - large, comfortable, warm and very clean. Breakfast was good and plentiful. You can view the pyramids from the restaurant.

Taxi's were available outside hotel and hailed by doorman with prices arranged prior to trip.

The hotel is perfectly situated for getting to / from all the sites to visit. There are a shops and restaurants nearby.

My stay with my 18year old son was excellent and after a day out sight seeing it was luxury to step into the hotel and be met by happy smiling faces.

I would highly recommend this hotel for a trip to Cairo.

Thank you Barcelo

Room Tip: Higher floor to reduce traffic noise

Indeed a very nice hotel, close to the Giza pyramids, in a very traffic jammed and noisy avenue (most of Cairo is).
Lobby is very elegant, spatious. Reminded me of the great european hotels. Staff is polite and cooperative.
My room was on the 6th floor, and you could still hear the traffic (everybody seems to have a thing about the horn). So beware of the lower floors, it might get loud!
Rooms are just comfortable. Not big, but was ok. Bathroom is very nice, with a superb shower.
Breakfast is served on 1st floor, buffet style. It's very good.
There's a nice swimming pool, that closes at 6pm.
Overall, I would not hesitate to choose this hotel if I ever come back. It is not expensive and probably the best you can get for the money.

Room Tip: Aim for above 5th floor. The honking is terrible!

Been a regular visitor on monthly basis in Cairo since april 2012 and I can highly recommend Barcelo as the best price for money alternative in town. This kind of hotel is 8-10 times more expensive in New York. If you stay you will have 4+ class hotel (not 5 star) but you pay as an European Hostel. You cant go wrong on this one. Nobrainer decision.

A very elegantly decorated hotel on a very noisy avenue close to the pyramids. But then again, Cairo is all noisy! Inside the room you can still hear the honking afar but possible to sleep with no problem at all. A wonderful view of the pyramids at sunset from the 12th floor terrace! The main problem was the air-conditioning in the room. Since it is winter, the cool air is turned off and only the heating is on (or just the fan, but still warm). But even in winter, inside temperature is quite warm and needed to have cool air-conditioning for a totally closed room. We had to turn the air off and open the room door in order to cool the room off. Very bad! The reception said other clients had complained but still did nothing about it. Besides that, nice shower and bathroom with good toiletries every day. The only place close by to eat something is a McDonalds a couple of blocks away. No markets or anywhere to buy water or anything close by. No exchange at the hotel but there is an exchange place about a block away.

This Spanish chain hotel is on the road to the Pyramids. First let me say it takes a special very intrepid traveler to really enjoy the chaos of Cairo and there are few ways to totally find a zen experience if that is your goal. This hotel is on a major street and on a good day is only about 10-15 min. from the Pyramids, but that is more fantasy since traffic is very congested most of the time. The hotel itself is really nice, totally renovated and elegant in an over the top art deco/Egyptian theme. The rooms are simple decor and very tasteful with extremely comfortable firm but cushioned mattresses, good pillows, satellite TV, A/C and heat for winter, hot showers and lovely bathrooms safes in room. The staff was extremely helpful and met all our many needs.

We originally were up-graded to a suite which was huge with a separate sitting room. The problem was the window was over the elevator shaft and there was no light coming in. We woke up at 9 AM because we thought it must be the middle of the night so we kept turning over and going back to sleep. We asked to be moved to a sunny room and we were given a lovely room with a view of the Pyramids. It is best to ask for a side room on a higher floor to avoid noise from the street.

Breakfast is adequate. It is not at the level of a true 5 star with smoked salmon or true French pastries. It has a station to make your choice of omelets or eggs, sausage, grilled veggies, Egyptian breakfast beans, assorted cereals, juice, fruit, breads and breakfast pastries which are not stellar but edible. Great coffee!

Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise, avoid rooms facing front of hotel. Room 1102 has view of Pyramids an...
