We stayed at the Fairmont Nile City in April for four nights. The hotel exceeded our expectations. The location, overlooking the Nile a bit north of the main tourist area, was perfect for sightseeing. Everything was only a short drive away. After a long day of sightseeing, the rooftop pool and hotel spa is a welcome treat.

The service at the Fairmont was the best we have ever experienced. We stayed on the club level, which I highly recommend. By the end of our first evening, the staff greeted us our daughter by name with her favorite treats. The breakfast and snacks offered periodically throughout the day were wonderful. We also ate at several of the hotel restaurants, including room service, and had excellent food and service.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. We debated about staying at a similar class of hotel closer to the tourist and are very glad we went with the Fairmont. While tourism is slow throughout the country, we felt incredibly safe and loved our three week trip around Egypt. Our only regret is that none of our other hotel stays lived up to the Fairmont!

Room Tip: Stay on the club level- you won't regret it! Request a room overlooking the Nile.

I had a terrible experience with this place. It started with a frnd's wedding that was held here so my wife and i decided to spend the night there. First, the wedding is at 1 pm, and we made this clear in the reservation. When we arrived the team there decided to tell us. We r sorry we did many more bookings last night. So all rooms r booked and we cannot ask ppl to cone out before 12 pm. Then they clean and i get the room by 1 or 1:30 after the wedding starts :s after some shouting , they actually found a rooom in the "fully booked hotel"...later same day i was informed from a frnd that if i dont leave the car with hotel valet personally i will not be charged the hotel flat rate ...and i will actuallly have to pay 16 egp per hour for two days :s when i talked to them and they realized they never informed me of this ... the solution wss to pay the full 16 egp per hour up to this pt then they will give me the rest for only half of the flat rate....for perspective the flat rate is already less than what i had paid until then...the final scene was when on the second day i wanted to do a late check out...again the same receptionist decides to tell me it is impossible given the hotel again is " fully booked". And again after shouting he was "simply"able to do it....i would never stay there again

I spent 5 days at this hotel in March. It's excellent. The food and service was great. They made arrangements for all my tours with local guides who did a fantastic job particularly Amira Taha. She's an excellent guide that the hotel sourced. Miriam on reception was very helpful with arranging tours. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

This is a fantastic hotel with terrific service and amazing views of the Nile and Cairo. The spa is also wonderful. I had a great four day stay here and would gladly return. While the staff can struggle with English at times, they make up for it with enthusiam.

This was my first trip to Cairo, and what an amazing adventure! The city is constant chaos, but the hotel offers a calm relief every time you step in. As an American who's traveled quite a bit, I was still overwhelmed and challenged, in the best way possible, but the city.

The staff made everything more comprehensible. The rooms are gorgeous, the beds and linen very comfortable, and spring for a Nile view. It's worth it. The breakfast buffet was sumptuous.

Mohammad, who works on the Gold floor (or whatever they called it) was so great and made sure everything went well during my trip.

The Fairmont Nile City is secure and beautiful. I think it is the top hotel in the city and would recommend anyone to stay there.

Finally, the spa is world class with the great gym and amazing sauna!

My wife and I stayed three nights at the Fairmont Cairo, Nile City, in April. It was part of a tour package arranged for by FreeLancers Travel. I had requested a deluxe tour package and this hotel certainly fits that description.

We arrived by car from Cairo airport and you go through security with a K-9 dog sniffing the car. Then you drive up a small incline to the main entrance to the hotel. If you want a taxi you either have to have the hotel call for one or you walk back down the incline and out the entrance. Just to the left will be a number of taxis competing for your business.

The main lobby is very modern, clean and an appearance that caters to the business crowd. We checked in quickly and were assigned room 1212. It is a large room with a view of the Nile River. The bed was king size and very comfortable. The only negative is that only one chair is provided and two are needed for a couple.

Each day you are provided water bottles, tea, coffee, for no additional charge. If you want ice be sure to ask for it when your luggage is delivered, or later in the day when a service person comes to change towels or turn down the bed. Or, you can call room service for ice.

Breakfast was included in our room package and it is a buffet. By the third day the staff greeted us as a regular. The buffet is reasonably large and the food is good, but still it is buffet food...usually overcooked. Has omelette bar.

As other reviews note there is a fantastic pool on the top of the hotel with lounge and bar service. It was windy on the day I had free and decided not to use it, but others did.

The hotel does not have a currency exchange office nor does it make change at the desk, at least when I asked. However, that is not a great problem. Next door to the Nile Fairmont is a modern mall. You access it by taking the elevator one floor below the main lobby. Or you can go out the main exit of the hotel and turn right and walk around the corner to the mall, walking a little on the street. I did both and no problems. If you take the exit from the main lobby and walk to the front of the mall you will see a bank to the right that does currency exchange. You will need your passport to exchange currencies. Otherwise it is quick and easy.

The convenience of the mall makes this stay far better than it would have been. Fairmont Cairo, Nile, is not in a convenient area for shopping or restaurants. At the mall you have access to the following: Starbucks, Renaissance movie theater, La Pizza, Hagan Dazz, Cilantro restaruant, Casper and Gambinis restaurant, TBS Bakery shop, AWB bank of Egypt, Charles and Keith shoes, Zeitoune Lebenase restaurant and other stores. To give you an idea of prices, you could order at Casper and Gambinis, for example, omelet, 42 EGP, burger, 49-59 EGP, pizza, 36-69 EGP, steak, 128 EGP and salmon, 110 EGP. Or at Starbucks, caff latte, 15.50 EGP, caffe mocha, 19.00 EGP, tea, 10.00 EGP and frappuccino, 24.00 EGP. A great alternative to hotel restaurants for a change in eating environments.

I highly recommend that you get a room with a Nile River view. I looked out a window on the opposite side of the hotel and you see the tops of building, with garbage or decay and a generally unappealing view. If you were doing a quick one night stay and leaving early then it is OK, but for a longer stay it is much nicer to view the Nile River.

A business trip during the riots - filled me with dread. However the only thing I noticed was the increased security, which is normal for Cairo. A fantastic hotel with everything you could want, great rooms and excellent staff. Breakfast is divine and the pool is lush sat on the roof.

A great first visit to Egypt, the first of many.

Room Tip: Try and get as high as possible and a Nile view for an awesome experience.
