A business trip during the riots - filled me with dread. However the only thing I noticed was the increased security, which is normal for Cairo. A fantastic hotel with everything you could want, great rooms and excellent staff. Breakfast is divine and the pool is lush sat on the roof.

Join the free fairmont club for free wifi and newspaper.

A great first visit to Egypt, the first of many.

Room Tip: Try and get as high as possible and a Nile view for an awesome experience.

Stayed a few times at the Fairmont Nile. Great location, central to most of the attractions around Cairo, good for the business as well as the leisure traveler. the hotel management and staff are extremely friendly and supportive. If cleanliness is on the top of your list when choosing a hotel, then the Fairmont should be your choice.

Room Tip: Always ask for the view of the NILE River.

When i visit a city on a river side , I choose a hotel with a river view, and nile is one of most beautiful rivers in the world.
The hotel located on the cornich and near all places in downtown, the only thing I didnt like is some burned cars near the hotel which related to the lately revolotion , and I wonder why they didnt remove them from the hotel site.

if things in egypt go back to normal the hotel will be one of the best locations to stay in

I stayed at the Fairmont Nile City for 3 nights. What a nice intro to Cairo - this was a wonderful oasis in the midst of the bustling city. Beautiful hotel, excellent service and reasonable prices. Compared to the other hotels where I stayed while in Egypt, this was by far the best. Great value for the price, and I would absolutely stay there again.

I have to say that the service really stood out. Everyone was always ready to help with anything, and always with a smile.

I had a very nice room on the 5th floor, with lots of marble and zebra wood (and a/c that worked well -- a must in Egypt). The buffet breakfast was well-stocked. The bars and restaurants didn't disappoint - I ate several times at the lobby bar, which had ridiculously cheap (but great) tapas-style food. The rooftop pool was wonderful, and a nice place to watch the sunset.

We stayed for the weekend in fairmont nile city, its just a glimpse of a breath taking view ovwrlooking the nile and a part of zamalek island. We stayed in a signature nile view room and had access to the fairmont gold lounge, which was another stunning view from the 16th floor. Service is very good, food is nice. Rooms are luxurious amd spacious with a beautiful terrace overlooking the nile directly. If you want a nile view place dont look anywhere else in cairo.

I stayed at the hotel being a basic member of Fairmont President Club program (which gives some extras immediately after joining, such as free internet access and free gym access to all members, therefore it is worth joining even if you never plan to stay at Fairmont property again).
I was traveling alone on a business trip

Hotel is located at the east bank of Nile River The hotel selling point is its location at the riverbank with river views, it is also I believe one of newer hotels in the city. One can also see pyramids from the rooftop terrace. Hotel forms part of office/shopping/hotel complex and feels rather secure. I booked transfer from the airport with the hotel for 235 EGP.

Check-in and check-out formalities were handled expediently, check-in agent thanked me for being a member of Fairmont President club and described the benefits associated with my level of the membership.

My room was on 11th floor with what they called "side Nile view" (with river visible to the right and another office tower across) and had king-size bed. Room was not very large, but of adequate size. It however featured glass wall between bathroom and the living room (I don't like these) - especially in a view that there are floor to ceiling panoramic windows and the office tower directly across. Although the bathroom window can be closed with the blinds, housekeeping tends to re-open them each time they visit.
Turn-down service was provided. Room had 2 bottles of free water renewed daily.

Bathroom was of very good size with quite interesting arrangement - bath being inside shower cubicle. Bathrobe and slippers were provided. Toiletries were of usual Fairmont kind (Miller Harris).

Staff mostly speaks English and was reasonably competent.

Internet access was free due to my President's club membership. it was fast and reliable.

Hotel has several restaurants:
Napa Grill serves primarily Mediterranean food - which was quite nice and tasty. It was a place where I tried Egypt vines for the first time - actually they are not that bad so give them a try. Check for 3 people will be around 800-1200 EGP including wine. Food quality is good, I especially liked mixed seafood grill. The same restaurant serves buffet breakfast, which have large variety of cold items, some local spreads, fruits/vegetables and the egg station.
Saigon Bleu tries to serve oriental food - they really do try, but if you ever been to Tailand and/or like Thai food, then turn this place down - I don't want to say anything bad, but what they offer is an imitation at best.
There also was another open air restaurant which serves Egyptian/Middle eastern food, but it is located outdoors and as there was surprisingly cold in March outside at night, I did not visit it.

Hotel has extensive fitness and spa facilities and outdoor swimming pool on the roof. I liked gym, which was mostly empty and provided large variety of cardio equipment and the weight machines. Bottled water and fruits were available. Swimming pool is rather small and it was not that warm outdoors anyway so I never used it.

Transportation from and to the airport was provided by the hotel at the reasonable price. if you are not going to the airport in the middle of the night, prepare to spend anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes in the traffic. Hotel concierge is, however, quite good and will advise you if you book your transfer too close to the departure given the traffic.

Bottom line - great experience, will not hesitate to stay there again. People without car, or these not wishing to take cab everywhere would probably like something closer to the city center and restaurants.

If anyone has any questions related to this hotel I will be glad to answer (if I know the answer) - just ask.

Room Tip: ask for a Nile view. some rooms may be uncomfortably close to the elevator lobby (and therefore nois...
