I simply loved finding this mosque. It is the height of Fatimid architecture. The front three salients have some unique "firsts". One first are the use of stalactites on the front facade. Also, the qibla is on an angle to the street. It is the first mosque to not follow that orientation. There are two chamfered corners- a tree obscures the left corner, but the right one is clearer to get a pic of it. A pierced medallion decorates the coached arch. Two "closed doors" motifs decorate the right and left salient, as well as vases with two vines. As far as the interior, it is a local and small example. Simply loved the windows with the motif of mosque lamps, which is symbolic of the qibla and the mihrab. An intimate setting off the busy street. After winding the crowded streets, it was pleasant to find.

This Fatimid mosque (1125) has a great façade on Sharia al-Muizz and is older than most of the surrounding Mamluk buildings. You can visit for a little baksheesh.

This is a small mosque one will pass by on El Moez street. It is notable for its facade, which is elaborately decorated with inscriptions and geometric carving. Also the facade follows the line of the street whereas the inside angles towards the orientation of Mecca. We didn’t even need to enter the mosque and could observe it right from the street. Our guide say there is nothing much to see inside so we skipped going in.

A small but very beautiful and amazingly decorated mosque... It has been renovated but it's built in the same old original designs.
