It may as a surprise to learn that Cairo has a fine collection of Impressionist paintings on show in a beautiful late 19 th century Parisian style villa overlooking the Nile.
Here you can enjoy in works by Degas, Millet, Renoir, Monet, Pissarro, Siley, Toulouse-Lautrec.
Pride of this collection are Van Gogh and Gauguin.
In this museum you can find fine collection of Chinese and Japanese porcelain either.

Please be aware that the Khalil Mosque is not open at presnent. Please check before you go and don't make the mistake I did today to find that after an hour and a half of travelling it was closed and apparently has been for 3 months...looks great from the outside though:)
