“Allways impressive”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

It was my 7th visit ove ra span of 50.
A "must" see place and my advice is that you don't get inside the Giza pyramyds: it is stuffy, narrow and there is really nothing to see., If you want to get onside a pyramid try the Sakkara pyramid, not very far away.

If you can ride get a horse, without a "driver" for your way around. It is fun.

“Beware of bedouins”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

Visited the Pyramids last week. What a shame the approach is such a disgrace with people dumping rubbish everywhere, they have even managed to fill the canal up!

For safety I would recommend not visiting unless you go with a guide and even then beware of the bedouins who work with both the horses and carriages and the camels. it appears to be common place for them to try and take pictures for you with their camels etc and demand £30 before they will give you back your camera.

The pyramids and the Sphinx are an amazing sight,(entrance 60LE) there is also a boat museum housing a large boat which was excavated from the site which is worth seeing, especially if you have a really knowledgeable guide. (Entrance 50LE ) Entrance into the large pyramid (100 LE) not really worth doing, awkward entrance and nothing in there!

Tips.
DO NOT give your camera/ phone to anyone and allow them to take photos unless you are happy to part with £20-£30 or risk losing your belongings!
DON'T be fooled into wearing silly robes etc.
Don't take anything from them unless you intend to buy.
If you choose to tip, make your decision and stick with it as they will demand more no matter how. much you give.
Agree the price for camel resides/ horse and carriage before hand bearing in mind a tip will also be demanded.

I have visited here twice over the years and would not ever return as the beggars, tricksters and con men seem to be out of control and ruin what should be a great experience.

“once in a lifetime experience”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

I don't want to focus on the negatives but all I will say is when you first arrive you will be hassled by the locals who want to sell you stuff, although they will offer to give you things for free, remember nothing is free, that means if they offer to take your picture or sit on there camel etc just politely say no and keep moving.

the site its self is what you would expect and it is worth the trip to experience something amazing and see for yourself what it really looks like.

Magnificent. Beautiful. Amazing. Wonderful. This is such a wonderful place to come and a must for all visits to Cairo. It really is the reason you come to Cairo and indeed Egypt. The size of the Pyramids and the sphinx is impressive
