This mosque is so gorgeous. I just sat inside and enjoyed the peace. You will need to take your shoes off and cover up before you enter.

good place to visit if you are in Cairo for more than 3 day tourism program. Prefer Pyramids, Khan-al-khalili and Museum over this

My visit was a cultural visit with a friend & it was to the whole area "Soor magra El Oyoon- Masr El Adeema", Salah Eldeen Citadelle, Sultan Hassan Mosque, El Refaey mosque. For Muhamed Aly mosque it is very big & has very beautiful architecture, if u'r a muslim try to pray in the place it feels amazing to pray in such historic place, the outside ground & place of "Meda" before prayers is amazing where u can take nice photos, a lot of free tour guides are there u can rent one to know more about its history & architecture. Just near ot the palace of jewelry where the roual family of Mohamed Aly was staying, in the room of the Sultan u'll find bery usefull information about all Khedives that ruled the country feom Mohamed Aly till Khedive Tawfiq.

The mosque was built in memory of Tusun Pasha, Muhammad Ali's oldest son, who died in 1816.

This mosque, along with the citadel, is one of the landmarks and tourist attractions of Cairo and is one of the first features to be seen when approaching the city any direction.
