Beautiful building, the ceiling alone makes it worth a visit and the views over the city are great. Ladies, you will have to cover your arms and legs if you want to go inside, there are garments to rent at the door. You will be pestered by the locals trying to sell you tat but they will leave you alone if you politely ask them too

“OMG!!”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

we had a very tiring trip to see this tourist attraction... took us quite some time from the hotel due to large volumes of traffic...we could see the mosque from a distance ..as its on a hilltop...but only realised the enormity of the building only once we got to it!! a building to be really marvelled at....the archtecture was so fine and intricate...the minarets reaching for the clouds... the courtyard and inside the mosque was very awe inspiring esp ecially as we had such a knowlegeable tour guide who gave us every last detail!! the surrounding area and gardens were very well maintained and the little tourist stalls were very interesting....there were NO persistent vendors!!! The views from there were breathtaking!!u had a birds eye view of Cairo...well worth the visit!!! will definitely go again!!

I loved the care and intricacies of how it is built, the clock from the french that has never worked and the fountains for bathing in prior to prayer. The ceiling is amazing and the best way to see it is laying on your back....

A must visit when in Cairo! The mosque is gorgeous and significant in Egyptian history and the view of Cairo from the grounds is absolutely magnificent. If you're lucky and it's a clear day, you can see the great pyramids of Giza AND the pyramids of Sakkara and Dashur.
